Republican Debate Turns Into Fiasco For CNBC

^ It's not the question, it's the tone. Beyond that, every question asked of Hillary has already been asked and answered, ad infinitum. Copper gave her the opportunity to answer, AGAIN. Nobody cares. Not one mind was changed. If you believed her before, you still do now. If you didn't, you still don't. We learned nothing.
Let me give you an example of asking the same question but in very different ways.
To Clinton as a democrat. Ms. Clinton, you champion yourself as a leader against the "war on women". Other than being woman yourself, what will you do, what policies will you advocate, that will help women become more self reliant and independent?
Fair enough question and needs to be asked.
Now let's say Clinton is a republican. Mrs. Clinton, you've been married to what some would say is a serial womanizer. Your husband has publicly embarrassed and humiliated you many times over a span of several decades, yet you continue to defend, and sometimes even deny his infidelity. Some would say your marriage is one of political and financial convenience. How will you tell a woman what they need to be self reliant and independent when you have allowed yourself to be used and abused?
The question in both cases remains the pretty much the same, but the difference in how it's asked is startling and shows an obvious bias. That's what republicans are bitching about, and they have a case.

I agree. CNN did a much better job. The questions were tough, and many questions were exactly what people wanted to know.

Here is my solution. The questions asked should be arrived at by the last two living presidents from each party. So the questions asked of the republicans would come from Obama, and the questions asked of the democrats would come from Bush.

Just like in boxing, there should be four score keepers (three + the ring referee). In the Rep debates, there should be two republicans and two democrats. In the democratic debate, two democrats and two republicans.

Then, the questions that get asked should be based on the pressing issues which if the presidents are doing their job, will address the pressing issues. CNBC knows what those issues are, and so does FOX anyway.

Time is moderated by a computer. Your microphone gets turned off after the allotted time for the question.

Leaving the questions to the media is by any reasonable measure a catastrophe waiting to happen, as we just saw. It might make for good reality tv, but it can easily turn into a disgrace.

"Here’s the very first question Anderson Cooper posed to Hillary Clinton during the Democratic debate:

“Secretary Clinton, I want to start with you. Plenty of politicians evolve on issues, but even some Democrats believe you change your positions based on political expediency.

“You were against same-sex marriage. Now you’re for it. You defended President Obama’s immigration policies. Now you say they’re too harsh. You supported his trade deal dozen of times. You even called it the ‘gold standard.’ Now, suddenly, last week, you’re against it.

“Will you say anything to get elected?”

"As questions go, that was more dagger than softball. After Clinton claimed that her positions had been consistent, Cooper followed up:

“Secretary Clinton, though, with all due respect, the question is really about political expediency. Just in July, New Hampshire, you told the crowd you’d, quote, ‘take a back seat to no one when it comes to progressive values.’

“Last month in Ohio, you said you plead guilty to, quote, ‘being kind of moderate and center.’ Do you change your political identity based on who you’re talking to?”

"Later, Cooper asked her about e-mail-gate: “For the last eight months, you haven’t been able to put this issue behind you. You dismissed it; you joked about it; you called it a mistake. What does that say about your ability to handle far more challenging crises as president?”

"Contrast that with the question that set off Ted Cruz’s rant:

“Congressional Republicans, Democrats and the White House are about to strike a compromise that would raise the debt limit, prevent a government shutdown and calm financial markets that fear of—another Washington-created crisis is on the way.

“Does your opposition to it show that you’re not the kind of problem-solver American voters want?”

"In response to that substantive question about an issue a lot of people care about, Cruz used up his entire time lamenting that they weren’t “talking about the substantive issues people care about,” and didn’t bother to answer."

First off, these aren't debates. A debate is point. Counterpoint. Rebuttal.

These are soundbites.

Second, their views are already out there...just GOOGLE.

I like that the mods try to "trip them up" with "gotcha" questions. Demonstrates how fast they are on their feet, quick of mind. Can they THINK impromptu? Are they smart? Do you get rattled easily? Do you answer honestly in your ignorance, or try to play us for obvious fools?

A positive spin on the FACTS is ok, but blatant BS is not.

Hillary demonstrated this recently, that woman is seriously smart.

What do you want by "successes"? Why is the measure of a politician always the extent they "rock the boat"? "Where are your extraordinary achievements?" Often, a boat on an even keel is the best course.

during her tenure there was ONE incident, and she has been exonerated, a hundred times over.

what ELSE did you want her to do, grab a machine gun and stand guard??? absurdo_O
She could have told us on 9/11 a coordinated atack occurred at our embassy.
