Renters are idiots too

Quote from Thermactor:

$50k/year pre-tax in New York City is like $24k/year post-tax
That won't even pay for a bedroom in Brooklyn (+metro pass)

1. What kind of taxes are you paying
2. It was said earlier that they're not coming up with the cheese alone, they usually split it.
3. There are a million other variables as far as the people that live in the city. There are students who don't work but come from money so the cost isn't on them anyway, others who work and split the rent with more people. There are a lot of foreigners with money that are buying up places left and right.
4. Where in brooklyn are you talking about? There are plenty of places that you can get for a great price now especially if you have a roommate.

Manhattan will always be a city where people live lavish lives and buy expensive apartments and shop at bergdorf's. It's just how it is and they don't complain about it. Millionaires are like taxi's here.

Quote from R. Raskolnikov:

I'm not disagreeing with you on how expensive and not worth it NYC is nowadays. I just thought his response was funny.

Personally, I think not only is NYC overpriced but it's going to turn into a much higher crime area in the not so distant future and I am glad I don't live there anymore (haven't in years).

And you state this increased crime rate as fact? Based on what knowledge? False. Plain and simply not true.
