Removal of online numbers

Why did elite remove the number of users currently online? Has there been a dramatic drop over the last few years? I remember when replies would come in right away, and now it can be days.
 
He didn't remove it. Instead, he pushed it all the way down near the bottom amongst the sponsor advertisements.

Thus, if you view the bottom to fast, it may look like an advertisement. Simply, you will not notice it.
 
Checked with both Firefox and Internet Explorer and the totals of the currently online users display (as they always have) in the semi-upper right area just below where it says Members Online Now.

Still very active ...... I find that replies can be within 10.
