I agree. France thought that Al Qaeda would leave them alone because France did everything possible to stay out of the Iraq war.

The Frogs didn't oppose removing Saddam for military reasons, they opposed it because of the illegal transactions they were carrying out with the Iraqi Government. You have to love the French they vote to boycott in the UN, and then funnel money for oil. Chirac and the rest of his high minded socialists should be condemned for their dangerous duplicity. Do you ever even watch the news ?

Hey, it was an war to help the defense contractors and the likes of Haliburton who thrive and multiply under the guise of no bid contracts which increase dramatically during war. The French probably did not like the fact that their little sweet deal with saddam will be gone and that is why they complained. Anyway, as things stand right now, the French has the right to say, "Gee wiz... told ya so". Of course the moronic neocons will be screaming trying to distract your attention from the point in hand, but what else can be expected from the members of the shallow end of the gene pool?

Both the Majnoon and Nahr Umar fields are estimated to contain as much as 25 percent of the country's oil reserves. The two fields purportedly contain an estimated 26 billion barrels of oil.[4] In 2002, the non-war price per barrel of oil was $25. Based on that average these two fields have the potential to provide a gross return near $650 billion.(About $1.3 Trillion now)

In addition French companies have signed contracts with Iraq worth more than $150 million that are suspected of being linked to its military operations.[7] Some of the goods offered by French companies to Iraq, detailed by UN documents, include refrigerated trucks that can be used as storage facilities and mobile laboratories for biological weapons.
Iraq owes France an estimated $6 billion in foreign debt accrued from arms sales in the 1970s and '80s.[8]
