I see....sounds like you could get hit by the IRS if you're residing technically inland while trading no?
So the intracoastal is intra, it's basically a canal between the barrier islands and the coast from Norfolk, VA to Miami, dipping further inland in a couple spots. There was 4g coverage pretty much the entire way on my GoogleFi service when I did it a couple years ago.
Inmarsat is an immensely expensive global satellite link, like $5/MB (yes MB!) that you'd use if money was no object, which is pretty much the opposite of this discussion.
If you're a U.S. citizen your income is taxed no matter where you happen to be. If you're not then I'm guessing U.S. waters (out to 12 nm) is considered in the U.S. for tax reasons as it is for all other legal purposes.
i lived in phuket south Panwa area for 3 weeks for sailing school. best part of phuket, quite and free of mass tourism. My ocean front room was about $70-80/night and you can get around by motorbike, so $2500/month is doable. Good luck with your hunt for profit and ladyboy

I just googled it briefly and the cost of living seems decent, but I'll admit that there are other options which seems more attractive. But that's based on my very limited knowledge of the island.
