Religion is a hypothesis.

I can't recall, post a link.

Or ask the question again, since somehow this history is etched in your mind...

It must have made a deep impression...hope you can recover from the trauma eventually!

Quote from Ricter:

Yes, that was the nature of your response then. And, you had to have the last word, too.

Quote from Ricter:

I've been wondering (I don't want to read the whole thing) if at any point in this thread it was already pointed out that religion itself is a fact, if the OP meant "belief in gods" is a hypothesis, and finally, if anyone mentioned that, technically speaking, a hypothesis has to be falsifiable?
I agree, and had that same semantic problem with the OP. Religions are facts; it is the bases for religions (or perhaps I should say theisms for precision) that are conjectural and should be subjected to scrutiny.

But it is a minor semantic problem IMO. The main point of the OP remains and can be clarified up by merely restating the title as "God(s) is a hypothesis." Certainly everybody in this thread has been treating the topic as such.

Quote from Lucrum:

This same question could be asked in any thread here but...

...has anyone changed their mind yet?
"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion."

Ok, just checking.

Of course if it had been properly stated as "Belief in God is a feeling" it would not have grown this long.

Carl Sagan is a self serving ideologue. Big Science looking for big grants to keep over the hill scientists employed. Not interested in the truth. Just where his next speaking fee is coming from.

Self organizing "no-thingness" is a manifestation of the creator.

The universe is intelligent by design and that really pisses off the atheists for some reason.

Quote from stu:

Careful now...
God would be an atheist too.

Yes ,of course some blobs of creation collectively deny their own origins.

The great irony is: folks of your persuasion ridicule us.
