actually stu, i think thunderbolt's actually right for once. i'd have to say that a big reason the world is as good as it is today (and it is good) is precisely because man has increasingly chosen to shun the crazy world of religion.

dan, you are right
I am right (I must be 'cause thunder said so)
Thunder is wrong ( he must be 'cause I said so)
quote:
So, when I hear these absurdities coming from people, I turn to the word for confirmation
I was hasty by not making reference to the quote, my attempt was to say he was wrong to turn to his so called word in that way, as there are better and truer things than a fanatical devotion to spoon food.
It's a persistent affliction that religious indoctrination causes to peoples personality that makes them unable to debate sensibly or coherently, which I think thunder and others have displayed so clearly here.

Now it all makes sense to me. You feel that this world is "good" in its present condition. Anyone who feels that way is certainly without reason.

well yeah, i do "feel" that the world is a great place in its present condition, but not only do i "feel" it, i think that i'm backed up by all sorts of evidence. so i am most certainly NOT without reason.
we can compare the world to how we THINK it should be, which normally proves to be an exercise in futility. or we can compare it to how it has been in the past. therefore, since you seem to think the world ISN'T good in its present condition, name ONE period in history where it has been better (for mankind)?
