Any god that can take an atom and give flavor to a can of soda and use that very same atom to give you consciousness is so far removed from simple human discussions, that to debate his existence or lack thereof is simply idle chit-chat from an organism that hasn't even begun to grasp the true complexity of this universe.

It would be synonymous to a bunch of ants getting together to discuss why *we* exist -- they don't have a consciousness able to envelope even a minute fraction of the variables necessary to arrange a good topic of discussion.

I assure you, that there is a pattern to things and that something exists beyond our reasoning abilities. Humans can't accept the fact that they won't always be able to grasp everything -- but that's what makes us so beautiful.

We remain intelligent enough to probe the universe from the micro to the macro, yet we remain ignorant enough to keep the glamour of the mystery alive.

What a relief. Finally somebody with some sense. Thank you!

daniel_m,

aphie...you are rookie in these matters

don't you think i've heard and dealth with a million chumps like you that try and tell me we can't talk about god? you are philosophical neophyte...whose #of posts : thinking ratio is way too high...

rather than just come an invade ET and drown us all with your opinions...why not try reasoning with yourself a little...i'm sure you'll quickly realise just how little you actually know..

More babble from a guy who's afraid of actually opening his mind to other people's opinions? It must be tough living a life where you are always right and everyone else is wrong -- for surely one day that will come back to bite you on the ass rather hard.

Lay off, he nailed you and you know it. Don't let these people scare you off, alphie.

aphie nailed ME? hahahaahah!!

tell you simpletons what...i'll take you on in a formal debate on ANY TOPIC, ANY TIME, ANY PLACE...let's let the judges decide who is spouting unfounded opinions and who has argument and evidence to back his position...

what jokers..

dunderbolt...i have nailed you every single time buddy..you are full of holes..yet you keep coming back for more...you must like it..

Daniel_M,

OKAY!

now we are getting somewhere. we have established that God doesn't know EVERYTHING, right?

thank you.

I'd also like to point out, that not only does god not know what I will do next, he also doesn't know what the other 6 billion people in this world will do next (not to mention all the other life forms..)

we could quite conceivably therefore say that god hasn't got a damn clue as to what is going on!

Just because God knows the past, present and future doesn't mean you are doomed to live it. Has it ever occured to you that God knows the quantum state of every possible occurance, yet has also given a random variable to human consciousness that let's us decide our eventual fate?

If God knows your ultimate fate, it doesn't necessarily stand that you will suffer negatively from your mistakes. It is our flawed interpretation of religion that sets us up for so many pointless debates.

Imagine if there was no hell -- then this entire debate become pointless, because then God knows what we will do yet we aren't damned because of it.

Open your mind, Danny Boy.
