Regarding the Existence or Absence of God

aphie - i used to be a christian - trust me they have nothing that I haven't figured out
i've heard it said that all great truth goes through 3 stages:
first it is ridiculed
then it is violently opposed
finally, it is accepted as self evident
from the earliest days mankind believed in the existance of gods and goddesses...it was the only way they could explain existance.
once man started getting smarter, the church brutally opposed any opposition to its ideas
one day, when man has long forgotten that he ever believed in gods and supernatural phenomena, he will look back and laugh at his tragic history

You are SO lost, Jesus was Mary's first born son conceived of the holy spirit. There were sons(brothers of Jesus) after him but conceived by Joseph. Simple, isn't it?

Sounds like some pretty freaky stuff to me.

I have a real question. I was not brought up Christian, so I really don't know much about the religion.
And please I just want a simple answer. Not excerpts from the bible.
Other than the bible itself, is there any historical documentation of the life and times of Christ? And other than hearsay from the apostles, did Jesus himself put anything in writing?

The Judgement of God seems to bother most of you atheists, but it's part of the Grand scheme.
He claimed that he would return again to judge the world
Matthew 24:27-30 "So as the lightening comes from the east and flashes to the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man... At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory."
Matthew 25:31-32 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep and the goats."
Mark 14:61-62 "Again the high priest asked him, 'Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?' 'I am,' said Jesus. 'And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.'"
