You JUST missed my previous post.

Pretty good website:

I would also suggest that people read the book:

The Blind Watchmaker. Excellent read.

guys, guys, guys....

when it was first figured out that the earth revolved around the sun, and not the other way around, the first people to realize it knew it was a fact. even though they had credible evidence, i'm sure there were still some that said it was not a fact. this stuff doesn't happen over night..it can take decades/centuries for new major discoveries to be widely accepted.

so, imo, evolution is a fact. the evidence is just too overwhelming. in a few decades/centuries we will look at evolution as fact..just as we do that the earth revolves around the sun.

MAJOR POINT HERE -- when i speak of evolution, i'm not talking about the origin of life. i'm talking about survival of the fittest. if mice glowed in the dark at night, they wouldn't be here right now.

also......THIS IS MY OPINION.....feel free to disagree....i strongly believe i'm right, however.....

Newton's Laws are observable FACTS. Evolution is a fuckin' THEORY. FACTS and THEORIES are different things. Are you people morons?
some things previously considered theories are now facts. when they were theories, of course some said it was wrong..

how is evolution not an observable fact?! it's everywhere i look.....i can't not observe it... look at any plant or animal..better yet, I AM LIVING PROOF OF EVOLUTION! think about yourself!

for example, say you have an "ugly" gene....let's just say, you look absolutely terrible if u have this gene....lol..... and say females are not attracted to males who have the ugly gene. you will be at a severe disadvantage when trying to mate. the people who do not have the ugly gene will have much better chances of reproducing.

the concept is really pretty simple..and it can be applied in so many ways. take giraffes, for example.... as you know, humans have height variations. giraffes do too. for the sake of example, say the only food giraffes can live on is 20' off the ground. the short giraffes will have a harder time getting food to survive. the taller giraffes won't. over time the taller ones will reproduce more..and probably evolve even better...... the short giraffes were not the fittest and couldn't reproduce as often.

i could go on and on. how is evolution NOT observable?!?

thunderdolt, i am already amazed at the lengths you'll go to try and save a lost cause.

until such time as you are willing to acknowledge the problems with your points of view - they are NUMEROUS! - i doubt anyone is really willing to bother with what you have to say.

If you would like to, my invitation is still open to engage me in a formal debate.

That is the only way you'll get anyone to pay any serious attention to you; and given your record, it may even be too late for that.

The last comment is the truth. In fact, I don't know how some people keep reading his posts. I keep skimming over them or skipping them altogether (usually the latter).

Let's take that vote outside of the ET board and you sir would LOSE. I know the types who reside on these types of boards--self righteous mathematicians who have listened to their professors for so long that they themselves can't think for themselves.

mathmaticians who can't think for themselves?? Interesting!!

Hey, I was raised a Catholic! I challenge both daniel_m and thunderdolt to prove that Catholicism is the scourge of mankind.

Bring it on Godless One and Born Again Zealot!!

Scourge of mankind is not appropriate. However, the Inquisition and crusades, among others, were definitely dark days.

I'm trying to distinguish the difference between facts and theories, that's all. Of course, there are observable facts that appear to validate the theory of evolution. While theories of physics are hardly debated because of their mathematical foundations, theories of biology and especially evolution are hotly debated because of the lack of mathematical underpinnings.

I want my credit!!! I was the one who first called him Thunderdolt.

I wholeheartedly agree. Catholicism as a religion wasn't the culprit; rather, the guilty parties were the weak, intolerant minds who were custodians of Catholicism during those dark periods. Man is a fallible creature. Even the heads of the Catholic Church have proven not to be immune of this failing as the current sex scandals have shown us.
