Refco FX account withdrawl frozen!!!

Quote from uninvited_guest:

I'm from Vancouver, Canada and I set up a RefcoFX account with my Canadian passport, proof of Canadian address, and funded with a Canadian Credit Card.

But RefcoFX set it up as an American account, not a RefcoFX Canadian account, and I have no access to my funds.

Where you going through RefcoFX Canada???

www.refcofx.ca customers were able to withdrawal their money up until recent.

Bummer. I was looking through my own info doing some filing and found a Canadian application. At the time it didn't seem to make any difference when I sgined up with the US division instead of the Canadian one. I sure wish I had looked more closely.

If he were with that one he'd be in good shape becasue it's regulated by Canada and it is insured by the CIPF. It's a matter of where someone opened their account. I am a US citizen...I could have opened a Canadian account. A Canadian citizen can open a US Account (and would be unprotected if they did).

Read the other thread I started. CIPF insurance dosn't seem to be helping the canadians now.

There accounts are now frozen in the deep freeze with the rest of us REFCOFX customers.

WRONG.

REFCO FX Canadian accounts are not frozen and are insured by the CIPF. I know it because I work for Refco Canada in Montreal.

Have you visited www.refcofx.ca and clicked on chat today????

I'll think you will find a familiar message that us US REFCOFX clients are all to familiar with.:D :D :D :D

Not sure which thread you're referring to. As for Canadian's account being frozen, that's the first I have heard of that. The Refco Canada website looks as if it is business as usual. And the CIPF does cover people that have accounts at Refco Canada if they're bankrupt.
