Recommended for new traders

Three grand on mindless information contained on recycled trees is a joke. Your cash would of been much better spent on losing it in the market. 1) you would of learnt by your mistakes
2) you would of provided me with some free money
now instead you are 3 grand down and none the wiser.

I may set up a book shop and invite u round for a special opening. spend 3 grand and get a book on the art on wasting money for free. U will only learn trading from trading

Considering how few people on this site actually make money, I'd go ahead and get the book through the library and get what you can, if anything, out of it. What the hell business is it of anyone else's whether somebody reads a book or not?

Phoenix is right. Quite frankly I dont care whether or not you all spend your money on books. I however would rather spend money on porn.

I don't see where reading a book is ever a bad thing. I would imagine that you could lose a lot more than 3k floundering about trying things and still not understand where things went bad.

I guess I too have wasted a fair amount on books. I can say that none of them have made me any money, but I would venture that more than a few have helped me from losing money.

Buy the books. Porn is free on the net so you can have your cake and eat it too.
 
And as I said at the top of the thread, one doesn't have to spend a dime on books. He can get them through interlibrary loan. Then buy the ones he likes.

Anybody who's willing to spend hundreds, much less thousands, of dollars on books when he's not required to do so is probably going to be willing to spend a lot more on trading mistakes when he's not required to do so.
 
I strongly recommend this book.

But the book is a beginning. Take it, verify what it says by trying to duplicate the results. Then take what you're comfortable with and see if it can make you real money.

Then, if you have the inclination, try to improve on the ideas. No matter what, you will be a better trader at the end of it.

No Im just a novice trader trying to learn the ropes which is why its great to have market wizards like yourself scanning the noticeboard and offering unsolicited advice. I would of thought someone of your stature would of been to busy creating a fortune to bother with threads titled "recommended for new traders" especially on a morning that the bunds trend 60 odd points but I guess that is the benefit of being a member of a site like ET
 
Yep, I agree with what's been said before here - if you only get one good idea out of a book its probably worth the price. For people starting out, reading widely is a good way to find help find a style/methodology you might be comfortable with. Don't need to
reinvent the game, reading can help shorten the path.

- Plus you can get a deduction ...
- Or you may just like to read ... Didn't Eckhart say something like be promiscuous in your research ...
- Might want to know how others like to play this game ...

Personally I keep about half a dozen good ones next to the shitter ; reading a chapter from a book I haven't read for a while can sometimes give a slightly different perspective on an
issue and might even squeeze out a good idea
