Rearden Metal appreciation thread.

Quote from Rearden Metal:

Yes, I was consistently among the top five Party SNG earners for a while there. The best advice I can give at this point: Don't bother with it.
The online poker easy money is long gone. The shark-to-fish ratio dried up over a year ago.

Understand this: Unless you are literally one of the most talented poker players in the world, poker is like driving -> If it's fun, you're doing it wrong! Even if you were to put in your dues and become skilled enough to squeak out a miniscule positive EV expectancy- you'd also probably 'burn out' by then too, with poker becoming more of a tedious chore than an entertaining game.

That said, back during the Golden Age of online poker (late '03 or early '04), I made a 1/2 hour audio recording outlining my strategy for beating the Party $200+15 and $100+9 NL SNG's for a steady income of 4-figures/day (playing 3 or 4 at once). I haven't been dealt a single poker hand in over a year, but I highly doubt this strategy is anywhere near as valuable as it used to be. If you can offer me something I really want in trade, I'll play the recording for you.

Otherwise, Sklansky's books are pretty good.

EDIT: One last thought- My hubris might have accelerated the collapse of Party's NL SNG fish-to-shark ratio. Some guy asked if he could post some of my hand histories on his website, and for some reason, I obliged. They are still up there today. My name was Frozen_Fish and the website is http://www.tightpoker.com/visitor_histories.html .
I've heard that quite a few ambitious players have learned how to play by studying my public hand histories.

One thing is for certain: Don't expect to see any of my trading 'hand histories' posted on the web!

is there anything you can't do..

I read more than I post. RM is definately have my appreciation for his contributions to this board :)

And how is this an inspiration?

Is it you didn't realize that with greater risk may come greater reward, or is it that you are surprised that trading may be profitable at all?
