Some good advice in this thread! Skip the back office stuff - you have the background to at least give you a leg up over a complete newbie in a scheduling or RT trading position. I started in scheduling (no prior trading experience - though I had power industry experience), then ended up combining it with RT trading, and then just went to RT trading. Lots of work, but I learned a lot, and fast. If you prove to be a consistently profitable RT trader (over a few years), you will likely move on and up quickly. Be prepared to work shifts (though it's not as bad as it seems - I kind of liked it for a while, actually).
