Real Time Alerts - Redundancy

I don't know your situation, but I do know Hotmail servers can take more than 5 minutes to send an email.

Most brokerage/charting platforms have audible alerts on the charts.

There's some handheld doohicky that's like a portable Quotron, but I can't remember it's name. Costly, I'm sure.

If you'd outline your situation I'm sure someone can step up and recommend a solution.

I should have been more specific...it doesn't have to be email

I'm simply looking for third party verification that a price was reached. If I'm outside, I can be notified and then verify the trade executed properly.

I would prefer third party as I have had platforms lock up in the past.

Thanks.

Have your machine running, monitoring quotes. If something interesting happens, have it send a text message to your cell. Don't know if it's commercially available, but it is in the realm of the possible.

Let's suppose that the trading platform is able to launch an exe file if some alert conditions are met: how can be write a script or other command able to send a SMS?

Could get the PC to send to a phone near the PC via bluetooth or something. That phone could send to the phone you're carrying.

I don't know of anything yet to do it directly from the PC.

Thanks for the replies.

I can install watchdog software to monitor system performance and alert me. However, if the entire system crashes/locks up it won't matter the watchdog will most likely fail as well...thus the request for third party notification.

I realize I could always opt for a second system monitoring the first, but wanted to avoid the expense.

How do you instruct the PC...without an exe or a command? You sugggestion is not clear...

sending a SMS message should be as easy as sending an email..<br>verizon for example has a system where you can send an email to XXXXXXXXXX@vtext.com (where xxxxxxxxxx is your phone number) and the message will get delievered to your cell phone
