U.S. Futures, Options Exchanges Close for Reagan's Funeral
By Ann Saphir
June 7 (Bloomberg) -- The Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the
biggest U.S. futures market, the New York Mercantile Exchange and
the New York Board of Trade will join stock markets in closing on
Friday to mark the funeral of former President Ronald Reagan.
All six options markets -- Chicago Board Options Exchange,
the International Securities Exchange, the American Stock
Exchange, the Philadelphia Stock Exchange, the Pacific Exchange
and the Boston Options Exchange -- will also be closed, their
spokespeople said.
The Chicago Board of Trade, the second-biggest U.S. futures
market, is ``discussing'' closing, said spokeswoman Odyll Santos.
The Kansas City Board of Trade is ``working in concert with the
other exchanges'' and will announce a decision shortly, said
spokeswoman Shelia Summers.
Futures are agreements to buy or sell assets at a set date
and price. Options are the right to do so.
