Spouses can be tough on a trader if you don't have their full support...they are tougher than some topsteptrader combine.
When I met my spouse...she was living in a different country. We started a long distance relationship and would take vacations to several different ski resorts each year around the world for three years.
I remember her stopping me dead in my tracks in the middle of proposing...with one knee down.
She made it clear that I needed to prove to her I could support her and a family. That's when I allowed her to watch me trade...2 hours every morning for an entire month...the only 2 hours I traded each day because she put so much pressure on me with her scrutinizing eyes. In fact, I have never been under as much pressure as that. Some days I was sweating, dry mouth, ringing in my ears, lost appetite...all while she sat there side by side watching me trade although sometimes she would just sit there reading books with short stories about sex.
After a month of this...she said YES and that she feels comfortable with my career choice.
She then gave me the best hummer I ever had and a week later I packed my bags and moved to her country.
That's when I discover sex as a tool to enforce following your trading plan.
Thus, if he screwed up...she probably did unimaginable things to him besides putting him outside in the dog house or living in a tent in the backyard.

The point is this, when your significant other one gets involved in your trading...you better have your psychological hat on and be prepare because if you fail...a lot of other things will go down with it.
I know some advise not sharing your career as a trader with the spouse but I don't recommend it no matter how much pressure you have from the spouse. Its just their nature to want to feel financially safe in a relationship. Regardless, they find out anyways especially at tax time.

There's a few journal threads here at ET where members vaguely mentioned the "lack of support" from their spouses and the impact it was having on their trading results...the pressure, stresses and such. They made it seem like it wasn't a big deal but the fact that they mentioned it here and there in their journal...obviously it was concerning issue for them.
We don't need to involve them in our trading but at least "talk about it" with them just like any other person with a job does...
A lot easier to do prior to marriage or moving in together in comparison to those already living together. Spouses in the latter...a lot more difficult road to navigate.
