Entitled parents for many years have sent their kids to school even when the kids are obviously sick. They view school as little more than a baby-sitting service. Did anyone expect this behavior to change due to coronavirus.

A Massachusetts high school student went to in-person classes on the first day of school despite having tested positive for coronavirus days earlier, officials said.
Now, about 30 people who came in contact with the student at Attleboro High School are under a two-week quarantine.
The mayor of Attleboro, a city about 39 miles southwest of Boston, said the student was tested Sept. 9 and that the positive result came in Sept. 11. The student then went to school for the first day of classes on Sept. 14.
Mayor Paul Heroux said a public health nurse for the city spoke to the family on Tuesday and confirmed that the parents had known for days that their child had the virus before sending him to school.
"There's no question about whether or not the parent knew," Heroux said.
The high school's principal, Bill Runey, said administrators learned of the student's positive test result Tuesday.
“I knew that we were going to end up having some cases, but I didn’t expect they would be on the first day,” he said.

I have to say my kids are doing remote learning this week and it’s going pretty well.
they are missing out on the social aspects but they will be going 1/2 week starting next week and will start to get that.

On the plus side, online learning will remove the extreme liberal teachers from teaching our kids the goodness of liberalism, Socialism, Communism and hating the US at some point. When learning is from a website, and it will be at some point because it would cheaper, teachers will be laid off en masse when that happens. The same videos can be used decades down the line and updated. Standardized tests can also, now be given online. Outsourcing anyone? This is where unemployed teachers from poorer countries can be hired to make educational videos on various topics, math, science, geography, etc. There might be one or two teachers to answer questions from students. Most of the other teachers will be laid off. School administrators will see the wisdom of saving monies as well as lining their own pockets and that of their lackeys with nice, fat salary increases while, cutting the school budget. Pity the poor librarian, maintenance men, janitors who stand to lose their jobs as well. Parents with smart kids will be fine. Kids with irresponsible parents will be worst off. They will be on their own.
So for years the right wing has demanded that school go online -- so all these public school teachers can be terminated and students will get a "better" education.
Now that schools are on online, the same right wing is demanding that students be back in the classroom with teachers because online education is ineffective.
Which is it?
It is the teachers unions which are demanding that education be online. Corona Virus is the excuse because they feel they can exercise greater control of the educational system. I am merely pointing out the unintended consequences for the extreme liberal teachers unions which will end up removing those teaching jobs. Those demanding students be back in the classroom are the parents who are having a tough time teaching their kids. Obviously, there is not enough good material out there. They also, have to remove that BS Common Core from the curriculum and get back to Reading, Writing and Arithmetic, the basics. Anything that removes the extreme liberals teachers spreading Socialism, Communism, Anti-American values and teaching the kids to hate the US is a good thing. I am 100,000% for it and I a sure a lot of parents will be for it as well. It will also, bring up more online schools focused only, on educating our kids which would be a good thing.
Just to keep a finer point on this discussion, many parents are demanding that their children be back in traditional school, while paying teachers to teach them at traditional school.
If they started getting a stipend, allocation that was otherwise going to the tradition school, then we would be amazed at how creative people can and will become in combining resources.
This is why shit does not work in the U.S. like in other countries..... you cannot trust the parents to be responsible for the kids so that the schools can be opened safely. What is the point of taking precautions if you have fucktards who are anti-mask and think it is ok to send their kids to school carrying Corona with no respect for anyone else in that school?
I already mentioned the story where a friend's kid was starting lacrosse practice with as many precautions as they could take and one mom knew her kid had Corona and kept sending him to practice and told the kid not to tell anyone. My friend's kid found out, told his mom and mom told the coach. coach lost his shit on the mom fucking up all his hard work to get the kids back outside. It is one thing to take precautions so that the kids can get together knowing they are being good outside the practice but when an entitled bitch sends their kid knowingly.....
After reviewing how other countries are handling schools many are moving back to in person with rules in place and in m ost cases they are being followed to sacrifice so the kids can be in school.
You expect you might get cases through natural occurrence...but not becuase a "funt" decides to throw in a live hand grenade knowingly.
Most schools districts in North Carolina currently have teachers in the classroom teaching students who are remote. Many classes require two or three educators (Teachers & TAs) to be in the classroom on the same video feed. This is due to the needs to support students with learning disabilities which require their own assistant, dual teaming of classes, and federal regulations regarding support for ESL & Title 1 students. Not to mention all the IT problems which require limiting the number of concurrent video feeds out of a school building to to bandwidth issues.
Typically the teachers are teaching without masks with no social distancing when on video due to a number of regulations --- for instance the federal guidelines about allowing students with hearing issues to read lips.
We are just four weeks into the school year and COVID has already reaped a toll among educators in nearly every school district in North Carolina -- even before students have showed up in the buildings.
