true it was a pipeline. But it was close to a supply facility feeder of distillates as far as what I heard. But yes, it apparently happened during work on the pipeline.

I talked to a friend of mine who trades distillates and what I mentioned above is what I heard from him at 8:31pm (ET), I subsequently took a short position in RB Dec16 shortly after 9:00pm (ET) at an avg price of 1.5749. I was in the red since then and as we speak the price for the first time dipped below my entry. Not all information we have now was available then but it is confirmed that the accident happened at a pipeline structure.
But I openly raise my hand and admit I was incorrect in my earlier post saying it was related to the refinery explosion as there was none, it was an accident during work, performed at the pipeline. I guess I fell victim to someone else's anger outburst and was more focused on trading direction than the precise terminology.

I wasn't trying to blame anyone, to be sure... I was just marveling at the idea that someone managed to run a giant trackhoe into a giant pipeline. How is that even possible?
If humans can build a large nuclear reactor site on one of the most active seismic faults in the world right at the ocean then I guess running a trackhoe into a pipeline is not so far fetched. Chalk it up to irrational human behavior and general carelessness.

Sounds more like someone else had zero clue. You posted the above 4.5 hours after gasoline prices started marching higher.
Why would I post trade details of a trade that I had taken hours earlier and which was still under water, barely break-even? In any case, I posted some information that did not address you. Do with it whatever you like.
Looks like you bought your gas tank for a few cents too many per gallon.

They were trying to repair the buried line that has a leak, is out of service but still has gasoline in the line. Usually you don't dig close to the line with a hoe but dig by hand once you get close. They either got cute and thought they could use the hoe a little more or the location info on their maps was off.
