RBG passed

watch as Whitehouse hints at packing only to have Feinstein undermine him and stab the whole party in the back:

having the election going to SCOTUS after confirmation seemed like a preventable risk.
Imagine if the dems had committed to playing hard ball on the replacement vote instead of laying down like dogs?
Pelosi already nixed any notion of stalling budget or raising the debt ceiling
Tim Kaine nixed the idea of any impeachment talks
3 dem Senators already came forth against court packing talks

RBG confirmation:

ok, so then they need to use every underhanded procedural bullshit the right used to halt this confirmation as they did w/Garland. They're already being accused of setting precedent by getting rid of the filibuster to nominate judges Obama had every right to nominate anyway (see that's the dems knowing the importance of the judicial but getting screwed for being nice).

it's already being spun as "this time's different because we're in power & only 1st term of the incumbent"

Time for dems to demand no confirmation because of "the McConnell rule"
I disagree, some us are fed up with the Dems willingness to get paid to lose, allowing the GOP to do irreparable damage to the country. The lines are drawn, what's the point of capitulating to risk the 5 swing voters with their head in the sand?

There's enough ammo to start impeachment of william Barr and follow it a half dozen times with Trump
The Senate must take up articles of impeachment which are brought forth by the House which the Dems control. The whole cabinet is impeachable of malfeasance, no reason why nomination hearings must take priority over delayed justice.

The Dems also control the budget and the debt ceiling. They're choosing to lay down and lose.

Your team pulled a Kavanagh and the people punished them with losing seats they should have won.

I was hoping they would try it again.

Pelosi may be senile put the people who run her are smart.
Schumer was desperate enough to try Kavanaughing once... but saw that the majority was ripped out of his hands... and learned. He is not dumb.

The blame for your team properly falls at the feet of only one person. And she is no longer alive.

Are you getting senile?

Imo,

The Dems did not delay the confirmation because doing so may have caused Rep. voters that were willing to vote against Trump, to change their minds in order to ensure the completion of the confirmation.

Even those these particular Reps. can't stand Trump, they wouldn't be willing to chance not getting another con Justice appointed.

The Dems. believe that another four years of Trump would be worse than the lifetime appointment of Barrett.

The vlogger didn't even mention this possibility, but it's the only tactic that makes sense, imo.

Indiana Sen. Joe Donnelly lost to Republican Mike Braun. North Dakota Sen. Heidi Heitkamp lost to Republican Kevin Cramer. Florida Sen. Bill Nelson's race was called for Republican Rick Scott, but the final result will likely wait on a mandatory recount. Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill lost to Republican Josh Hawley.

"These senators paid the ultimate political price for their vote," said Thad Kousser, a political science professor at the University of California San Diego.

ABC News reported 47 percent of voters in exit polling said Heitkamp’s vote against Kavanaugh was a major factor in how they voted.

"The people who stood up to great political peril for Christine Blasey Ford ended up facing their punishment and now, they won't be there to stand up for those issues again in the Senate," he said.

Kousser also pointed to polls showing support for Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, dipped after her performance during the Kavanaugh hearings.

"It's hard to find any other explanation besides Kavanaugh," Kousser said.

this is what is what I was saying....
they did not want to risk the backlash... again.

Imagine being such an idiot as to go to war with Mitch as a Republican?

McConnell backs Garland's nomination for attorney general
Washington — Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell will vote to confirm Merrick Garland as the next attorney general, five years after refusing to act on Garland's nomination to the Supreme Court.

A McConnell spokesperson confirmed to CBS News that the Kentucky Republican supports President Biden's pick to lead the Justice Department. Politico first reported his decision on Tuesday.

McConnell has described his decision to block Garland's nomination as the "most consequential thing I've ever done." The Senate later confirmed Justice Amy Coney Barrett to the court days before the 2020 election.
