RBG passed

They'll never get Murkowski and Collins.

Or Romney of course, given that he is a democrat.

As a practical matter though, it is probably worse than that because Senators who would support an expedited filling of her seat may be up for re-election themselves- even though they would be a reliable vote in a non-election year- so they have to do what works to get themselves re-elected. Which means that if the voters in their state don't like the idea of an expedited appointment then they may/will join their voters on that.

Of course the whole thing could still shiite the bed if trump is elected because it is not a given that the senate will be republican either after the election.

Yup. Down ballot just got more fire to it.

GOP already shot themselves in the foot when they declared that the new appointment MUST happen after the election and let the people decide in 2016. Therefore they have no choice but to be quiet until after the election.
you're a funny guy ochenta y cinco, you think "the Biden rule" applies when Biden's running?:

Collins is in a dogfight of an election, she may need some conservative bonafides to push through.

I don't know. Even though she is rino, it is her semi-conservative bona fides - ie. siding with Trump and playing a leadership role in getting Kavanauch elected- that has her in a tough position right now.

RIP. She lasted 11 years after being first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which is unusually long.

Even though Mitch McConnell said in https://www.vox.com/2019/5/29/18644061/mitch-mcconnell-supreme-court-hearings-2020-merrick-garland
May 29, 2019 ...
“Should a Supreme Court justice die next year, what will your position be on filling that spot?” an attendee asked.

“Oh, we’d fill it,” McConnell replied with a smile.

I doubt if he'll follow through on it. And assuming a HarrisBiden win, there would likely not be enough time to get to a vote before the inauguration.

Just days before her death, as her strength waned, Ginsburg dictated this statement to her granddaughter Clara Spera: "My most fervent wish is that i I will not be replaced until a new president is installed."

WISH DENIED!!!
