Perhaps I should look for that video of the guy a few years back at the townhall meeting declaring that govt should keep its damn hands off his Medicare to make a more precise point.

Tao is a bitter little man. It is funny how little he knows.
I think it's downright hilarious how uptight you get on all of this. You're even resorting to photo-shopped pics!
Maybe we should tax our machines (their owners) a bit more and give everyone a so-called "living wage". It should be a bit on the tight side, so that enough are motivated to work... at maintaining those machines. Kind of like how I feed our cats here on the farm. I feed them a bit light so they're motivated to hunt mice, and they damn sure do catch a lot of mice.the government needs to get entirely out of the medical business (unless they want to create some kind of medical savings plan) That's why soc security and food stamps work and medicare doesn't. I have no problem with the gov giving people money. I have a BIG problem with people sending the gov (me the taxpayer) a bill. Why not every retired person over 65 just send the government a bill each month to cover expenses? That's basically all medicare does.
well then, you are out of the picture and the government is in. From now on, the government tells you how much you must feed your cats. If it's too much your cats won't hunt and you won't be able to afford them anymore.Maybe we should tax our machines (their owners) a bit more and give everyone a so-called "living wage". and don't forget, now that money that use to go to cat food must now go to enforcing and policing cat owners.well then, you are out of the picture and the government is in. Presumably, if the elderly were to simply tally their expenses and send them to government every month, as you were kind of suggesting, some kind of controls would also be necessary. It does not have to be black or white, all government or no government.well then, you are out of the picture and the government is in. true, I am not anti government. The government does a good job of paying social security, and any day, we know how much it costs. Same with food stamps for the most part, once a client makes it past the means testing. It isn't based on how hungry you are that month. Medicare on the other hand is hopeless. Nobody could run it, especially not the government.Presumably, if the elderly were to simply tally their expenses and send them to government every month, as you were kind of suggesting, some kind of controls would also be necessary.
