At least I can still fly to Bangkok for $784 round-trip from JFK. They havent moved those prices up yet.

I guess that's the only place you can afford to pay for pussy and eat decent food.

Your true colors have shined!

Woah, with prices like that how will you ever be able to save up for the triple bypass surgery that you're obviously going to need.

You people are being silly.

Housing starts and permits were absolutely PITIFUL.

They will talk tough and do nothing, IMO.

If you want to do something about cost of living, move someplace where its reasonable. Those prices posted were absolutely wild compared to what we pay in the midwest. The only thing higher here is gas, and everything else is super cheap by comparison.

Burger King is 2 Whoppers for $3.00 at most places, and 2 for $2.50 at others.

A Chicago Style Vienna Beef Hot Dog with everything and fresh cut fries is $1.79 at a place that is so good, there is a 50 yard line at the door. Ok, a Beef sandwich is like $3.00, but I'm cheap. Beer is $7.00 a pitcher, and the all you can eat Fish dinner was $6.50 + tax + tip at the bar last week.

Milk is $2.19 a gallon, here. Breyers Ice Creme 2 for $5, Dannon Yougurt $0.39, Ribs $2.29/lb, Choice Black Angus round roast $1.99, Jumbo Eggs $0.79, etc

Look for yourself. Here is this week's ads from four stores that are all within 7 miles of me.

yea, wow the cost of living is expensive in NYC, what a revelation.
i dont live in NYC
i get thai food once a week, nice green curry for 8 bucks, can't finish it in one meal and i'm a pig.
i shop at Aldis and my grocery bill is usually 25-30 a week. lettuce is a buck a head, big bag of chicken breasts 5 bucks.
wendys has a whole dollar menu that you can get a bigger fast food meal than you need for 4 bucks.
10 bucks for a large pizza.
Vente at Starbucks is $1.65

NYC is hardly reflective of the national economy.

Do you weigh 400lbs and watch a lot of TV? Your diet doesn't sound so healthy.

:D

Wow! Inflation is everywhere but somehow no one on CNBC or in the world of trading seems to care.

Here are a list of things that I have seen lately that have been interesting:

- Bag of combos and a monster at a gas station -$4.53
- Slice of pizza at a dirty restaurant in the Bronx- $3.50
- Burger King meal at a random place in a suburb- $7.50
- 4 drinks, 1 Cheasesteak, 1 pasta meal in Hoboken- $50.00
- A large cup of coffee at the gas station- $1.50
- A large cup of coffee at the Dunkin Donuts- $2.50
- Gallon of milk at the store- $6+
- A small meal at a cheap Thai restaurant in NYC- $48
- 2 drinks at 230 5th St, $24

Lets not mention gas, $3.25 per gallon (Last years price at this time=$2.50) 30% rise alone on gasoline

Cost of a 25 mile commute with a stop-off at the McDonalds for breakfast= $7-10 (one way trip)

If Bernanke takes into consideration the *real* inflation, then I see 2-3 rate hikes this year. If he takes into consideration just the core, then I guess its no rate hikes while the above prices tick ever higher.

So its either raise the rates so the common man can afford his commute and that cup of java at the gas station or hold the rates steady so the rich wall street man can keep bidding things up. Who will get screwed?

pizza in Nj is always better than the city for some reason..........Benny Tudino`s on washington in Hoboken has the largest slice of pizza you`ll ever see...........an educated consumer is their best customer.:D

THERE WILL BE NO RATE HIKE AT THE END OF JUNE.

All he is going to say is the same stuff he has been saying for the last 12 months, everything looks fine, inflation is a little out of hand and that the economy is growing at a moderate pace, the dow will add 300 points that day and most likely at that time be trading around 14100-14250. Its going to happen, just buy any index ETF prior to the meeting at the end of june and you will be guaranteed at least 5% in profits.
