Ranking the 2024 Democratic field (CNN top 10)

I agree its best to vote for who you believe in, even if it seems there is no chance. A third party candidate winning, even say 10% of the vote gives more people confidence their vote is not being wasted in future elections. Most people vote who they feel is the least worst choice, nowadays. Imagine if there was someone they could identify with with? US media has lost credibility, elevating social media effectiveness. I believe those who post on social media can be a positive force for their party if they are they are consistently respectful and competent, as you are.

I perceive the field is fertile for new candidates, status quo changing ideas, and lesser known parties. After all, can anyone credibly say our system is working fine the as it is now? Government and corporate overreach adversely affect our lives almost daily, even if many do not fully perceive it. Our privacy and rights are often effectively lost when we sign an employment agreement, visit a website, use a commercial email provider, or even buying certain products. Many items sold nowadays involve some form of social engineering. Even, if not especially, on supermarket shelves. There are plenty of issues the Green Party can tackle that mainstream America would be interested in. Has not Ralph Nader established credibility as a long-time consumer advocate, for example?

Corporate media will seek to shut down any contenders for political power that have not been bought and paid for by major corporate interests. Some methods they use include expensive and time consuming frivolous lawsuits. Sound familiar? Something a small political party unfunded by most large political donators can ill afford.

We have discussed the above before, but lets actually do something about it. Religion, multi-level marketing, and successful political movements share some commonalities. These commonalities are a strong message that resonates with many people, repeated often, and successful recruiting of competent personnel. Nowadays, we must add strong attorneys and contingency plans to weather severe storms brought on by the media and opposing political parties who hold a lot of power.

How about a post or two each day of an issue that impacts most of us that is not addressed by Democrats or Republicans, but is addressed by a Green Party candidate? It’s a start, at least here on EliteTrader’s politics section.

What say you?

There is no Green Party candidate yet.

I have quickly skimmed through the lengthy wikipedia.org article on Jill Stein. Jill has an impressive academic record and appears to be a competent doctor, as does her husband. She seems to be a reformer against corporate malfeasance, is against those corporate subsidies that are fundamentally counterproductive, and is an advocate for improving food safety, especially involving children consuming multiple pesticides that are found in most meals. Jill believes in reallocating half of the US military budget towards social programs. She is a strong advocate of green energy. Jill was targeted by Democrats, but successfully swung some state towards Trump in 2016.

The above are things I personally can relate to. While Jill has ideas I strongly question, given voters have to “Mulligan” at least a few perceived deficiencies of any candidate, we can consider accepting a few of her perceived warts.

It is so challenging to overcome one’s closely held beliefs, even long after forgetting why or in what circumstances an opinion, often nearly intractable, was formed. The current Russia-Ukraine war is an example. Most everybody knows the war will lead to ever increasing destruction, seemingly without the possibility of any side feeling good about or accepting a potential peace settlement. How to break the lock? The same goes for people’s perceptions on politics. Some things are unilaterally accepted as “Truth” or “Must have”, blinding one to other possibilities.

It seems to me the political, geopolitical, economic, social, and environmental paths we are on are unsustainable, at least as measured by maintaining a resemblance of the status quo that only some of us are comfortable with. Actually, Jill wants to make the status quo comfortable to more of us. So much for the competence of the establishment, as further corroborated by direction of country polls, among others.

Is Jill Stein the one? Personally, I would like to see a substantive contest among several Green Party candidates to highlight their capabilities in their bid for our nation’s highest office.

Not a good idea when you will need their votes again though. Not one president has won re election with a negative approval rating,Biden is -11

Whatever shit show you perceive from Biden we still dont know what is coming from the GOP side...

2024 will be the gift that keeps on giving.

Also if no one does anything stupid.. the economy should recover and stabalize in 2024 and well you know how presidents like to take credit for shit.
