Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History

Quote from RCG Trader:

Obama will be in the history books 200 years from now. That is called influential.
ALL Presidents will be in the history books 200 years from now dumb ass.

Including the worst and least influential.

We tend to put too much weight on people in Recent history.....by recent i mean the people who have a documented history that we can trace....

What about the inventor of the wheel?

How how the first person to figure out how to make a fire?

First people to create language, etc....

We would still be living in the stone ages without those things...

these people were far more influential then is even possible of someone in the last 2000 years....Though Al Gore will probably be up there since he invented the internet..... :D

Quote from tradingjournals:

There is a guy by the name of Michael H. Hart, who did a 100 Top Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History. I find the idea interesting as it forces one to summarize and to rank what is significant at least in a relative sense. According to wiki the top ten ranking in Hart's book is:

1 Muhammad
2 Isaac Newton
3 Jesus Christ
4 Buddha
5 Confucius
6 St. Paul
7 Ts'ai Lun
8 Johann Gutenberg
9 Christopher Columbus
10 Albert Einstein Physicist

I do not think that the physicists in there would continue to be important going in the future, but the religion guys are likely to continue to be important as man is religious by nature. I can also think of many others who should have been ranked higher than those physicists. For instance Einstein is in my view below many other people -- (in addition, I do not believe that Einstein was actually the guy who came up with what is attributed to him as a whole, but that is another subject).

Quote from murray t turtle:

Ronald Reagan [tax cutter/gov cutter/air controllers union reducer/pro life ] is on most of these lists also.
Lol, no, Reagan doesn't belong on the Top 10 "in History", either.

Quote from RCG Trader:

Let me expand on that, then.

Obama is the America's first black President. Blacks are 12% of the population, no other person has accomplished this miraculous feat.

He inspired an entire genre called birtherism. No other president has done this.

He passed national healthcare for what is a backwards nation in that regard, again, a first.

Our arch nemesis since Clinton was eliminated on his watch.

Obama will be in the history books 200 years from now. That is called influential.

I don't think i'll forget seeing the shit throwing monkey at the zoo when I was 6, but I don't think that makes him or obama "influential".

Quote from peilthetraveler:

Maybe Zuckerberg should be on that list. I mean facebook has 901 million users. Islam has 1.4 billion. In 3 or 4 years facebook will pass Islam. :P

facebook is just the dotcom bubble dejavu.

Nobody in their right mind of age in the 90's would have fallen for that piffle.
