Rank ET's P&R posters on the political spectrum

Quote from 377OHMS:

Well don't feel bad, I'm engaged to a far left-wing liberal and will probably end up living in her home town which is a haven for ex-hippies and the militant left. There is a little "Occupy" tent downtown with a few dreadlocked guys beating drums and chanting anti-capitalist slogans in their tie-dyed shirts and birkenstock sandals.

And I was *so* close to leaving the country when this came up. Life can be a very strange ride.
If you want to run a little test to see if this relationship is going to last, tell her you gave $100 to George Zimmerman. Report back, please.

Might I suggest the next time you get into a debate with one of these "losers": is slowly take the most extreme leftist position possible and see how far you have to go before they disagree with you.
It twists them into pretzels before they realize they've been had.

It's really a riot, esp in contrast to the direct approach.

That *is* funny because we haven't discussed the Trayvon Martin incident yet.

She has developed an intense hatred of Romney based only on stuff she hears on MSNBC (Ed Schultz?). When I question her she eventually just relates that she hates Romney and isn't sure why.

I've barked at her a couple of times so she has figured out she isn't going to convert me but she and her friends do regard me as some kind of curiosity and often want to know what I think about things.

These people gripe about the economy and then through some kind of twisted and perverse logic blame the republicans for it even though Obama has been in charge for over 3 years.

Quote from 377OHMS:

A gay conservative is a relatively rare creature I would think. Do you have to conceal your political affiliation?

I live mostly surrounded by liberals and sometimes its just easier for me to keep quiet though I have let off the occasionally incendiary comment at the dinner table at family social events when I've heard enough nonsense lol.

I feel the same way but on the other side of the fence. West Texas is sooo far right politically. I just listen and hope the subject hurrys up and changes from Jesus and I hate Obama back to women and football

An interesting exercise (well, at least it was for me).

I took the most common posters here, sans the obvious trolls (and no, I didn't dictate who was a troll by who I have on ignore or something like that, I merely considered CONTENT). If you wish to add some folks, do your own list.

From top to bottom, with the top being the most liberal/left/progressive and the bottom being the most conservative/right wing (overall, not just fiscal/social alignment). I included myself.

If I left someone out, I apologize. I tried to be comprehensive. Just speak up and if you're interested, I'll put you someplace in the list. This is just my view, so if you don't agree, just post your own! :)

nutmeg (on a list all his own for randomness)

Quote from hughb:

In California, we don't see any campaign ads. The candidates come here for their fundraisers, but they all know California will vote for the Democrat in the election.

There was a pundit from Bloomberg on Washington Week in Review a couple of weeks ago and he believes that Mitt should run a "high road" campaign with no negativity. I strongly disagree - Mitt should attack and he should do it fiercely. If the major networks aren't running news stories about Mitt's negative campaign ads, then he isn't campaigning hard enough. He has got to attack, over and over again, on "you didn't build that". He doesn't need to take it out of context, he doesn't even need to add any commentary to it at all. just showing the President admonishing business owners to kiss government ass will be enough to turn enormous amounts of people against Obama. "You didn't build that" should be the cornerstone of Mitt's campaign. Right now the polls show that it is too close to call. You guys claiming that polls show either candidate as winning are just full of shit. If Mitt attacks, he wins. If he doesn't, he loses. I really think it's that simple.

Quote from Tsing Tao:

I see you as a libertarian more than anything. You don't like the system telling you how you should be or what you should do, but you don't go out of your way to tell others what they should do either.

Libertarian, yes. Darwinist, even.

My uncle lives in Naples. He's gay, and a conservative. Adamantly against Obama.

I didn't list you as a left winger. There are more conservatives than liberals here, so you can't go down the middle of the list and draw the line there. You are right above me - one space! I am certainly NOT a left winger.
