Ranging Market times?

Hi guys, easy question:

When do you see ranging markets most often?

A few hours after a major news release? The day before a major news release? Monday night?

Any ideas on when you think ranging markets are most probable would be very useful to me.

your question is not really relevant to what your trading goal is.

but, here is the answer.

the markets will range whenever there are more buyers than sellers, and the opposite also applies.........

More...

I tend to think periods of low volume are more likely to lead to range bound conditions. There are other conditions which can lead range action as well.

Test it out...see if there is a correlation between ATR in your specified time period and volume in that time period. I would bet that you would find something there!
