There's nothing like taking a good talking point and embellishing it by a magnitude of 10 or 1000 for sound bites.
After he applied the Slavery Reparations Tax Credit, he ended up getting a refund.
Former DC Mayor and Council Member for life Marion Barry may have helped Rangel with his taxes. Barry didn't bother to file returns for nearly a decade and couldn't explain where hundreds of thousands of dollars came from. The IRS basically apologized for annoying him and nothing happened. Pretty much the same thing happened with another DC pol, Eleanor Holmes Norton, who is the non-voting delegate to congress. She was caught not bothering to file or pay taxes and blamed it on her husband. End of story.
I'm pretty sure none of us would get the same lenient treatment.

Barry is still on the City Council. The scary thing is, he's not the most incompetent or corrupt councilmember.
Isn't that what determined the outcome of the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections? And in the end, same result?
