Quote from Joe:

Does anyone know if the people that actually make the trailers for movies win acadamy awards, oscars, golden globes etc.....

If the job is farmed out, I doubt it.
But, I sorta presume that the people who actually make the movie are the ones who also produce the trailers.
I could be wrong about all this, of course.

What they do is truely an art, take this trailer for instance. One of the greatest comedys, but by watching this trailer you would never know. You would think action flick.

Holy shit, my heart was pounding while watching that. WTF though? Why would they make a trailer like that for a comedy?

Chuck Conners was pro baseballer before acting. Johnny Crawford was a huge baseball fan and the affection between the two was genuine.

Yeah, The Rifleman was a good show. Conners was also a pro basketball player.

That Lucas McCain was a baaaaad man.
When I watch The Rifleman on Hulu, I still hide behind a door and peek around it during the show intro when he fires that rifle and cuts his eyes back to the camera with that "look" on his face.
And I'm a brave man, but that Rifleman is the scariest dude I've ever seen, especially with that rifle in in hands.

The jobs are typically done by the in house marketing team and an outside ad agency that specifically works on movie trailers.

Here is a list of firms that make them.

Just looking at the first firm on the list, there are a pretty good number of recognizable titles on there.
