In any case, that is on match for my climb of mount kilimanjaro. A troupe of 13 men were we. Equipped with nothing but one canteen of water each, $30 sneakers and the clothes on our backs, we embarked on a desert crossing culminating at an attempt to reach the summit. Alas! 8 men lost their lives that summer. Apparently the rodents on that mountain are carnivorous.

I heard of this engineer that lost his life after climbing mountains in Tibet when he was seeking advice from the Dali lama. Seems the Dali lama called him a moron and on the descent had a heart attack.
The engineer had quit the rat race and decided to become a gentleman dairy farmer. Quite a "spread" he built but his biggest disapointment was the cows always faced away from the house. Consequently, his views from the windows was dairyaire and flopping patties, not an inviting site while having dinner parties, to show off his new ranch.
Exasperated, he set out on an expedition for advice from the dali lama to get these gd cows to turn around.
As I mentioned, he had a heart attack. A fitting burial on a knoll overlooking his ranch. Afterwards, his wife noticed the cows now faced the house, sometimes even peering in the windows, the irony is now the cows rear ends were pointing towards the knoll.
I dunno, maybe he wasn't cut out to be a farmer or the dang cows had something against engineers.

I recall an expedition, to that lonely, windswept, freezing cold, but surprisingly sunny mount, during the Crimean war......all we had to eat, was the cold stench of death.
We had intended to para-sail down the mount, but alas, they hadn't been invented at the time, and this was cause for extraordinary consternation.
Yes, many, many pack goats, camels and associated ungulates paid the ultimate price for our lack of trip planning, on that occasion.

On her majesty's service, we had been selected to grass-skate down the mount to impress the locals and bring them into the service of the crown. We also were to bribe them with candy cigarettes. Unfortunately, her majesty's expeditionary force met with unsuspected obstacles.
The beast-rodents of the summit of Kilimajaro took the lives of all of my party, and my wife and child - for they followed me home to England after I passed through the Crimea... Only I escaped their wrath.
I still remember their evil ruby eyes, glinting in the setting sun, with my lifeless family and ruined life surrounding me... and as the swarm of those foul beasts retreated to whence they came... I swear... I .. heard... them... laugh...

I managed to make it to a road, where I flagged down a car which drove me to the hospital.
I crawled into the waiting room, and two nurses ran over to me.
"Oh my God, are you alright?" one of them shouted.
I said, "I'm absolutely fine, why do you ask?" before passing out.
After waking up in the same spot 6 hours later, I realised there's a time and a place for sarcasm. ...
I managed to make it to a road, where I flagged down a car which drove me to the hospital.
