Speaking of which, whatever happened to "service" in the U.S.?

I've heard stories of a time when you went into a business and they really cared that you came in.

Can any of you guys help me? All these Led Zeppelin songs keep running thru my head. What can I do?

Surely they cannot run forever? Even Led Zeppelin songs must tire at some point?

Yeah, service in this country is practically nonexistent. Although, I hold management responsible, I think they have almost given up on finding good help. Most of these people who get these service jobs just don't care. Management these days seems satisfied if they can just get a warm body. I wonder how many billions of dollars is lost each year in the restaurant business just because a lot of people won't go there. Not because they can't afford it. But, because they don't want to put up with the nonsense.

"Hello." "Can I get you something?" "Thank you." "Please". "Yes sir." "Yes ma'am." "Come back." "We appreciate your business."

What happened to those phrases?
