My employers new ride.

Sales trainer/motivational speaker Tom Hopkins says he gave up his private jet right after he signed his first fuel bill. He asked if the bill was for the month, and it wasn't.

Sitting out in the courtyard on a nice Sunday night. It was extremely hot today and the building is still to hot to be inside. There is a huge block party going, (City Fest here in San Diego), so I can hear the thump thump of the music. My neighbors have their windows open and their TVs on loud. Don't know why they don't come outside and join me.

BTW, my next door neighbor just came back from the block party. He keeps his door closed and blinds down, nobody here has ever met him. We assume he is so private because he smokes and this is a non smoking property. I call him "Barney Frank", not because he's an openly gay politician, but because he's an openly gay overweight and ugly guy.

A couple of weeks ago I overheard "Barney Frank" on the phone in a heated discussion with his bank's customer service line. They were late with his direct deposit and it caused his rent check to bounce. He was reminding them that his direct deposit was always $571 every two weeks and that it had never been late before. That's less than half of what I make and I live hand to mouth. And on top of that, he didn't even have enough in his checking account to cover the rent because of one late deposit. He appears to be much too old to be having financial problems like that, I feel sorry for him. And with his earnings so low, his social security pension will be a pittance when it's time for him to retire. I really hope he has more money put away somewhere, but if he's letting his rent check bounce, he probably doesn't.

They do burn a lot of fuel. Ours burns about 150 gallons an hour at altitude.
A Gulfstream IV burns about 450 gallons an hour under similar conditions.
