exactly, he was my top choice before he started teaming up with McConnell and then making comments about Cruz. I lost confidence in him, even though I think his arguments best aligned with what I was thinking on most subjects.
I would like to see him oppose the establishment more and run in the future.
I think he saw what happened to his dad as an outsider so he determined his only way too win was by appeasing the military establishment, the problem is that in order to do that he had to twist and contort his views so badly that he lossed the edge Ron Paul had as someone who would stick to their morals regardless, and someone who had a very definitive view point.
I have no doubt that rand's views are very similar to Ron's but all the nonsense where he contorted himself to try to please both worlds just turned me off of him.
Like the shit he said with Israel was a perfect example, what he initially said was that we shouldnt be funding anyone while we are broke, and we need to just not be involved in those conflicts, he also said we shouldnt have troops stationed all over the world, something else i agreed with, but then when the hawks got on his case he tried to contort that view point into all kinds of different shit, to the point where it was basically unrecognizable. Basically he wanted to support israel but didnt want too, and wanted to pull our troops out of europe but didnt want too, what we ended up with was a guy who we have no clue where he stands.
It really is too bad Ron Paul wasnt 10 years younger, because this would have been his perfect election, i have no doubt Ron Paul would be in the lead right now if he was running, hes anti establishment, anti war, anti cronyism, small govrnment, against the war on drugs, he basically had everything that voters are thirsting for with no viable option other than Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders.
Bernie and Trump are both deeply flawed candidates, but its all the ppl who are sick of this shit have to choose from, Ron Paul basically hit the nail on the head of every single issue voters are concerned aboout, he would have killed it in this election.
Rand made the mistake of selling out to the warhawks too early and he lost all credibility, before the electorate was solidly in the camp of an outsider, had he stuck to his guns i think hed be way higher in the polls right now, and he might have had a shot.
