Rand Paul and 2016: A message of change, delivered deadpan

It says something when even the constituents of a political party rejects them. They should commit mass suicide.(politically speaking off course)

You are 100% correct, Spike. Congratulations. You had no idea how right you'd be when you made that post, but it could be the most intelligent thing you've posted on these forums - ever.

If the politics of the last few decades has been the problem, and the two parties are so off base when representing the people, it does indeed say something when someone surfaces who calls into question the entire sham and suggests that there has to be a better way.

Suicide is continuing to show support for a system that you know is broken. As the people of this country sleep walk towards the cliff all we're seeing is corporate America picking our pockets and a leftist government that is singing rock-a-bye baby lullabies.
The economy is in shambles. The labor participation rate continues to falter. We have zero confidence in our government with an 11% approval rate for congress and no one can point out the 11%. The ME is on fire. Mother Russia does as se please. China steals everything it can from us. Mexico continues to dump their human trash on us. And what are the REALLY BIG issues or our time? Thugs should be able to commit crimes with impunity. Gays need cake at their wedding. Sluts need free contraceptives.
No, I will not continue to participate in a system that has gone so far off the rails.

Then they need to put an "I" behind their name, otherwise they are beholden to the party establishment. Bigger than that we need to see if the people of this country are ready to dump our criminally corrupt government. While one Independent candidate elected to the office of president would not bring immediate change, it would send a strong signal that the people have had enough. Anything less is just business as usual. Totally unacceptable at this stage of the game.

I understand your disgust, brother Captain.
I'm sure you have read many of my posts and that you understand that I hold these politicians to very strict standards.

However, these guys want to become President.
By the letter of the law, so to speak, you are correct in that they should put the "I" beside their names.
But, we aren't going to change this monster government overnight and these guys realize that their chances right now running as an "I" are likely close to zero for getting into the Oval Office.

Remember, most citizens of this country aren't very politically aware and they won't readily embrace change.
Try to listen to Rand Paul tomorrow when he announces.
I think he could strike a positive note with you.

Rand Paul seems to stray from libertarian roots as he courts GOP base

Where he once pledged to sharply cut the Pentagon’s budget, for instance, Paul late last month proposed a $190 billion increase over the next two years — albeit one that would be paid for by cutting foreign aid and other government programs.

...“The First Amendment says keep government out of religion. It doesn’t say keep religion out of government,” he told a group of pastors at a private breakfast on Capitol Hill on March 26.

Playing the Libertarian card while being a big government spender worked great for his father and it appears to be drawing support from the base. And of course all republican candidates have to find a way to pander to the Stupids (Christians).

GOP Hawks Set to Ruin Rand Paul's Big Day

In the first salvo of the 2016 Republican ad wars, a conservative group is about to unleash a seven-figure ad campaign targeting Senator Rand Paul for being out of step with the party on Iran, just as he launches his presidential campaign.

The Foundation for a Secure and Prosperous America, a 501(c)(4) group led by veteran Republican operative Rick Reed, will go live with its campaign against Paul on Tuesday, while the senator is in Louisville, Kentucky, announcing his presidential candidacy. The group will begin airing ads on broadcast TV, cable and the Web in several early primary states accusing Paul of being weak on Iran and tying him to the Barack Obama administration’s Iran policy, whichpolls show is deeply unpopular among Republican voters.

“Paul supports more negotiations with Iran while standing against more sanctions that would hold the Iranian regime accountable. That’s not a conservative position, that’s Obama’s position,” Reed told me in an interview Monday. “His longstanding position on Iran and his agreement with Obama on Iran calls into question his judgment.”

The scale of the campaign is remarkable this early on in a primary fight, and reflects not only the depth of the hostility toward Paul’s worldview among many conservatives but also the prominence of national security in the 2016 cycle.

This is not the first major campaign Reed has influenced from the outside. He was the architect of the 2004 “Swiftboat Veterans for Truth” campaign that attacked John Kerry’s national-security record and credentials. His new campaign against Paul will be bigger than even that effort, he said. “Foreign policy has the potential to be as big in this campaign as it was in 2004 or even greater,” Reed said. “To me, given the state of the world, that’s a good thing.”

Tuesday’s ad will hit airwaves in states that are part of Paul’s rollout, including Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, Reed said. The millions committed to the early effort ensure that Paul’s deviation from the Republican field on foreign policy will be among the top issues used to illustrate his alleged divergence from the Republican voting public.

Paul has been avoiding any comment on the Obama administration’s announcement last week that Iran and the P5+1 powers agreed to a political framework in which Iran would receive sanctions relief in exchange for scaling back its nuclear program. All the other Republican contenders have come out against the deal, and former Texas Governor Rick Perry promised Monday to trash it if he is elected.
