Rafael Nadal and Usain Bolt refuse to compete in great Britain unti taxes are lowered

Quote from Martinghoul:

Comment away, my indignant friend...

I hasten to point out that I never suggested that you should be quiet on this (or any other) subject. Nor did I suggest that people here were so "pedestrian", as you put it, as to never have been on a plane. You're over-generalizing rather enthusiastically here. My point was solely about the quality of the commentary. IMHO, that's due to the propensity of some people to trivialize the issues in question so that they can be easily made consistent with their preconceptions and biases. Facts and reality are the unfortunate victims of the above process.

people in texas might tell you that dog don't hunt.
in CA we say nice back track.

here is the quote.

Quote from Martinghoul:

How many of you guys here have ever actually set foot in the UK?

As someone who actually lives here (and pays that 50% tax rate), I find the overwhelming majority of comments on the issue in this thread (along with the quoted article) absolutely laughable. Such righteous conviction, based on such shocking ignorance.

Astonishing, but, I suppose, not entirely unexpected...

Quote from TGregg:

Heck, if 101% tax is good, why not 4000%? Wow, they could really raise some revenue that way!

A hundred years from now, people will be scratching their heads about liberalism and wondering just what level of hallucination and cognitive dissonance was required to reach such lunacy.

Not likely. They will look at the conservatives of today just as we look at Bull Conner from yesterday.

Really? Care to enlighten me how you managed to arrive at this momentous conclusion? Was it smth I said which didn't agree with your delicate constitution? Or maybe you need help with some of them big words which have eluded your understanding? I am happy to help, 'cause that's just the kinda generous guy I am.

While I'm certain it's momentous to you, you're rather trivial to me.

Awwww, whatever shall poor ole me do now... The pain of this rejection is just too much.

Quote from Lucrum:
What exactly do you get for that 50% tax rate anyway?
Well, there's a few things which I could list, but their value is ultimately subjective...

For me personally, there's very few places in the world where I can do what I do. Of these places, the UK is best, in my view, and 50% tax is the price I am willing to pay. I have considered other places, where tax regimes are much more attractive, but they all have their own issues.
