QuoteTracker To Be Finished End of 2011

Hmmm, I didn't notice the news not showing up. I just checked and it's still streaming in on Ameritrades old StrategyDesk product, so the problem seems limited to QuoteTracker.

I hadn't noticed because I've had better success using www.theflyonthewall.com which QuoteTracker supports. ($35 per month, 30 day free trial). They summarize breaking news quite well so you don't have to decipher the guts of a story that might be multiple paragraphs long.

I also have the Google Finance news feed turned on in QuoteTracker:

From Options, select Data Sources/Proxy, click the "news" tab, then click the "snapshot" tab. Make Sure the "Check for news" box is checked and select "Google Finance News - US" from the source drop-down box. I also have the "***All Portfolios***" box checked in both the High and Low Priorty sections. (This is better than not having any news).

Hopefully Ameritrade will fix this issue, but they do tend to break something nearly every week....usually over the weekend with a new problem showing up on a Monday morning.
 
Yes, it looks like TDA cut off the news feed on 10/16. I have tried the Google news feed, and it does not filter very well. Anyway, is there a way to have Yahoo news feed into QT?
 
I received this e-mail today:

Due to a change in the news feed, the streaming news from TD Ameritrade is no longer available in QT.
Click on Options > Data Sources > News. Click on the Snapshot and you can select Google Finance and Yahoo news for news feeds here.

I sent an email to Ameritrade regarding the news feed. Here's what they said:

Thank you for contacting TD Ameritrade. There was a change in the streaming news feed for TD Ameritrade. Because QuoteTracker is not being actively developed, it is not able to accommodate the change. Please check with QuoteTracker at support@quotetracker.com for alternatives.

Looks like there's a problem with Historical Backfill. Using Default or BigCharts gives me no data.
Also right clicking on a chart and doing Bigcharts for xxx gives me a data fetch error when trying to display big charts.

Yahoo still works but I find it very unreliable and sometimes inaccurate.
 
the URL that QT was connecting to are no longer there. I believe it was used for their Java interactive charts. Doesn't seem that they use that anymore. They use Flash charts now, and the datafeed for that is basically useless.

Use either Yahoo, or whatever main datafeed you use for quotes - IQFeed, TDAmeritrade, etc.
 
Default Backfill worked fine until last Friday. Don't know why it's dead now.

I use my Australian customer etrade account for quotes (that you supplied some time ago through QT support). I don't suppose I can use that in any way for Historical Backfill? Thanks.
 
I can't help you add a source for QuoteTracker. Certainly will look to do that for Medved Trader. Yahoo should work. In fact, just configured it, including all the symbol translations, for MT.
