All MT extensions will have to be written in C#. We don't want to reinvent the wheel, and C# has an easy way to include sandboxed dynamically compiled code into the program. This way user-supplied indicators will be just as fast as our built-in indicators. They will be written in the same framework.
I just went and looked: Bollinger Bands is implemented in about 20 lines of custom code. There are more lines of code defining the parameters and default values etc. but the actual calculation of the indicator is 20 lines of C# code.
Of course, we will properly document the process of creating new indicators.

I need help. I am a long time user of QT and have had the patched version running on two different machines for several years. Windows died over the weekend and I can't seem to be able to get it running again. I had a second hard drive so I installed it on my computer and loaded up a clean install of Windows 7.
I am a TDA and IB customer. I installed TWS and QT. I have TWS running fine, but I can't get my quotes to work in QT and I also can't get QT to recognize my IB trading account. QT can connect and see the funds in my TDA account, but not my IB account. When I installed QT, I installed the patch before running QT for the first time. The backfill is working and I am able to get backfill over the 10 day limit, but QT is not registering. Everytime I open QT I get an error message that says
"QuoteTracker must be registered in order to use Interactive Brokers for market data and/or trading."
Anybody know how to get this working?

The most bizarre thing happed to me this morning at 10:30am (EST). I noticed my ES and TF charts were not updating yet the quotes were updating in the Quote list. Backfilling and clearing all the data didn't fix the issue. The bandwidth started backing up and causing QT to act sluggish. Restarting my computer didn't solve the issue.
After more troubleshooting, I realized the issue was related to ES and TF only and not CL or NG or RB which are set to a custom timeframe. ES & TF are set to CME Globex timeframes so I went to check the Holiday Schedule and lo and behold there is a programed Time for Memorial Day set to 5/27/2013 to start at 15:30pm and end at 9:30am (CST) with partial day checked. This Holiday cannot be deleted because it has a * in front of the listing and had to be pushed out or was somehow programed in with the patch update. I know in all of the timeframes I checked, the last programmed Holiday Schedule was New Years 01/01/2013 and I have been manually adding new holidays into all of the timeframes I use.
Switching to my custom time frame fixed the issue and charts showed candles after the 10:30am (EST) timeframe and the data stopped backing up and everything is back to normal.
So my question is how do I delete that weird Memorial Day Holiday Schedule in the CME Globex time frame so I can use the CME Globex timeframe again?

The biggest problem with the Historical charts is that none of the mark ups can be transfered to the rolling month's chart. With the energies, they roll every month, so I have to custom mark up each month which takes some time. Also, you can't move for example an oval or line from indicator to another. Hopefully, Jerry will make this effort easier in the new program. But most people have no idea of the power of QT.
I don't have that holiday as "Built in", but if you do, I think you can open TFHOLIDAYS.XML using a text editor, find the section:
<ID>-USFUT</ID>
then scroll down to where that holiday is defined and just delete it (from the <DAY> tag to the the </DAY> tag, inclusive.
and restart QT.
In reality, it should be a full day holiday, with 5/26/13 date.
