1) as you suggested, I have downloaded qtfix (3.9.8a) version. When I open it, there is

'fetching site configuration files list
ERROR- cannot continue'

in window of 'Updating files from the Web Site ... '

what's wrong? Now I'm working at Windows 7 OS.

2) Glad to hear you will release new 'QT'. I hope that will include all functions of old QT. particularly, the all indicators and paintball feature. I expect you can set one or several 'variable' in paintball to record constant or indicator value, that will be easier to use paintball. and give user more sound options, besides computer speaker, stop, ...

3) if you consider to provide data feed in your own source? that will be reliable. We can pay monthly fee for the data, or software rental.

the patch blocks webUpdate, which is why youa re seeing that error. There is nothing to update anyway, other than an sometimes TDA sends out an update to bock some functionality in QT, like optionsXpress for example.

2) the "scripting" will be different. Don't have details yet.

3) Not going to deal with our own datafeed. Too much overhead
 
when I open qtfix, the pump up window is:

One or more of the files required for this program to functions is mission (REKLAMA.PAR, ZANUDA.PAR). Would you like to do a WebUpdate right now to get it from out Web site? ( NOTE: if this fails, download the latest update from http://www.quotetracker.com).

If I click 'yes', it gives error message, if I click 'no', all turn off.

Where can I find the files at http://www.quotetracker.com?

don't try to run stocks.exe inside that file on its own. What you got happens only when you do.

Instead, close QT, then extract the contents of the zip file into a temp directory. Then copy the files from the to the QuoteTracker directory, overwriting the existing files.

Once done, start QT the way you normally do.
 
I just made a new installation of QT, trying to figure out a problem that was causing crashes all the time. I've applied the patch bringing it up to 3.9.8a and 60 days backfill. So far everything seems to be working. I've only imported the portfolio file from the crashing installation.

But there's a new problem. The portfolio(s) windows are always behind any chart or Level II or Time and Sales windows. And clicking on a portfolio window will not bring it to the forefront. I can click on one portfolio window and it will show above the other portfolio window, but the other windows are always on top of the portfolio window(s) and only be minimizing the charts can I see the entire portfolio window.

I haven't found anything in Preferences that would address this problem. Could someone suggest a solution? I'm using Windows 2000.

In Preference under Miscellaneous Options, did you select "Sub-windows not On Top"? (need to restart QT after making a change)
 
Thanks Chartie, I thought I had looked everywhere but missed that Misc section. That fixed the problem.

I wonder if you know how to make the charts default to the not-maximized size (aka Restore Down). Every time after I minimize a chart, when I bring it back up it goes to full screen maximized size...I don't know if it's a Windows 2000 problem, but it doesn't occur in my other QT installation.

The charts on top is intended because the charts don't have their own icon on the taskbar, and therefore it is a bit difficult to manage the windows if they are not on top.

As for the maximized, was the chart regular size before you minimized it? if so, it should restore to that size when you open the chart again. If it doesn't, it may be win 2000. I know it works OK on XP, Vista, Win 7 & 8.

I am running QT on Windows 2000 and I do not recall ever having such a problem.
 
I seem to have the maximize problem on two different Win2000 computers with QT, so maybe it's an OS problem. It occurs when I minimize a Restore Down (not maximized) chart. Then when I open the minimized chart again, it goes to a maximized size. Since I usually have only intraday charts in a non-maximized size and rarely minimize them, I may not have noticed this before.

BTW, I like that the charts don't have icons on the taskbar. That keeps the taskbar from being overloaded. I keep two intraday charts on the screen at non-minimized sizes and store the rest as minimized icons in the top inch of the screen, each one in it's own place so I always know where they are.
