QuoteTracker To Be Finished End of 2011

Jerry,

Thanks for your continuing effort to keep QT alive. Using TDA, I have a problem which was corrected with the last QT web update, but is again broken with the patch. I suspect it has to do with a setting possible: I have to resort to restarting QT each day to get the last trade info for all charts, portfolios etc. Bid/ask is fine, but price/vol is missing until I restart, after which all is good. Any wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks!
@c_jerry - No idea. I don't remember any such changes to the code back when WebUpdates were done. Price/Volume updates come from the servers. Restart of QT really wouldn't do anything special. Same as reconnecting, or hitting the STOP, then START button.

Maybe some date issue - on OPTIONS/Data Sources menu, QUOTES tab, do you have "Always use system time for quotes" checked? Maybe try changing that setting.

There was a webupdate last year summer/fall which had updates to TDA which cured the issue then. I'm thinking a clean install might be good once I determine all the data files I want to backup.

I did not have the "Always use system time..." checked, so I'll see in the morning if that has helped. I think I unchecked that in search of a solution a while back. It might be interesting to note that the "Start/Stop" function does not work and might be at least a partial explanation. Clicking on the top panel TDA streamer "Stop" button does nothing. The little green box keeps flickering, but the button stubbornly keeps displaying "Stop". Before the update I referred to earlier, I was able to switch servers in a L2 Server menu, but no more.

Before I leave, I have to repeat that QT is very good software having used it since its earliest days. Thanks again.

Check on what Jerry Medved suggested above about using "system time". Lately my MBT Quotes within QT were asleep until I went to QT > Data Sources/Proxy > Quotes and checked the box "Always use System Time for Quotes" for my MBT Portflio. That awoke my MBT quotes from a near death sleep. Prior to switching to using system time, my symptoms were like you described about the green activity light blinking but the data not flowing.

I had "Always use sys..." checked last night, but no joy this morning - had to restart. Two screens, lots of charts w pBars etc and all is good after a restart. I have TOS on another sys, so if I need to I can use it to extinguish and misbehaving trades.

For ref: On data src/pxy I have - Active checked, from 6 am - 9 pm (I'm west coast time) Mon-Fri greyed out but checked, and Always use sys time checked.

Jerry, in the end, it's working the next day. In the past few yr., there are a few cases like this, I don't know if it's stockwatch or quote tracker. It stopped working, then everything back to normal the next day.

I can't explain it. I did call stockwatch that day, they said all the data feed is fine

thank you very much for helping out

If you are going to buy back the copyright of this software from TD, you will gain back most of the users of this software, people like me. Because I am not in US, so I can't use think or swim

QuoteTracker to be "phased out" at TD Ameritrade:

I spoke at length to two TD Ameritrade reps last week. They are phasing out QuoteTracker, but said the draw down date isn't finalized. Both admitted that part of the problem is that "many" traders still use QuoteTracker.

I've been using QuoteTracker for over 10 years and the ThinkorSwim platform for about 2 years. I use them daily, side by side. In my opinion, many things about QuoteTracker are still superior to ThinkorSwim, and I really don't want to see QT phased out.

I've started a petition to see if we can influence TDA to keep QuoteTracker up and running:

Great, Jan. I hope everyone on here who uses QT will sign up.

I would urge you to send it to someone in management at TDA.
Anyone know e-mail address for Fred Tomczyk?

I signed.
