I've also been subscribing since at least 1998 and was just about to ask them why I didn't get updates for the last few days. I noticed that I didn't get charged my normal "Annual Fee" in October and they instead started charging me on a monthly basis ... I think that was probably a nice courtesy for a long time User. I had QP2 running in "Set-it and Forget-it" mode and really didn't think it would go bust. I've written at least half a dozen programs that use their database to extract trading info or perform screening.Quote from IQ_200:
I was a subscriber of QP2 from 1998 and this nasty today have awoken to learn that:
"Due to financial circumstances beyond our control,
we will no longer deliver any data after Friday, January 6,2012."
Does anybody here know any End Of Day software except CSI with such features: ?
1. Maintains daily database on your computer with all splits, name changes and other corporate actions beeing automatically conducted.
2. Renders direct program access (API) from VBA, VB or other language to historical database.
3. Optionally has fundumental information and industry tags for stocks.
Be generous to share with me and couple other apologets of Quotes Plus so much needed information.
I have found that FinViz is an excellent on-line tool for various screens but it doesn't have any ability to perform historical screens.
One of my favorite uses of QP2 was to generate stock portfolios to backtest intraday strategies. I used QP2 to screen for stocks that have various characteristics over some historical period. This greatly reduced the amount of data required for testing a strategy. I could also establish portfolios for historical dates and then forward test those portfolios to get a better estimate of real-time trading results.
If anyone knows of an on-line tool that lets me screen for stocks on a historical basis please let me know e.g. find all stocks on September 29, 2011 that are above $X a share, have an Average Daily Volume of Y shares and the Range for the day is 2 times the Average Daily Range.
