It's not that there was overwhelming support for Trump. Trump was supposed to not stand a chance, and you guys (and many of those who voted for Trump, like me) vastly under estimated the support he had. And that's why we are here.
Quite simply this is why Trump got elected.
Quite simply, Trump gets negative press because he is an ignorant, misguided, pussy grabbing, low class, illiterate, immoral fool and he is the POTUS.
