Yes W7 will let you run VB stuff on it - Worst case you can use XP mode and/or run something like VMWare player or VM Workstation to run an XP box inside your W7 box.

Everybody on ET knows I'm a Dell Precision T3500 fan (I've got only 1.. and 5, T3400s... the T3500s are a NICE improvement all around)... great computer, great price. The ones I've seen and have myself are very quiet... not as quiet as an "all passive" rig, but noise is low enough that you likely won't notice unless you're intentionally listening for it... and the T3500s are lots less expensive than equivalent-power, all-passive rigs.
 
Thank you for info guys! i did read couple articles from silentpc and i got some idea how to make any PC more quiet..

i'm going to try to spray this s*** on back sides of PC case,on sides where they contact to each other,where fans and HD's are sits.

there is also good stuff sold at HD to fix the roof. it's a thin layer of a rubber,with one sticky side. you can use it on PC case bottom,where it's touch the floor(assuming your PC sits on hardwood,not on carpet)..i'm going to try this on existing PC's

Pretty cool case but a trader needs at least 3 monitor :D. Otherwise, a laptop would probably be a better choice.

One of those tiny mITX computers with a SSD drive. Main storage is QNAP NAS (network available data, RAID safety) using gigabit ethernet. At least 3 LCDs mounted on a Ergotron stand. That's a sweet setup. I've got something close to that except I didn't know about mITX m/b when I built my regular ATX computer. Next time.

that rubber spray from home depot looks pretty good. it's create thin layer of rubber,that dries in 4 hours or so. can be sprayed inside side panels of the case and chassis. will certainly lower some noise,specially if it's a cheap case made from thin steel or aluminum. on other side it likely worsen heat dissipation thru the case.

works fine with SSD. pretty much silent

sink with PWM fan is 5$ AR on BF. the only a problem is that rebate was one per person per address. neat design for fan mounted on sink. with no screws,only rubber.
 
Where did you find a chassis wide enough to accommodate that heat sink? :D Oh... okay, maybe the picture was taken with a wide-angle and the shape was distorted a little bit? Also it seems that you have a micro-ATX motherboard... making the heat sink look bigger.
