Quick Question for those proficient in reading candlesticks...

So which one of these do you believe needs more bearish confirmation (left or right?) and WHY? Please post your answer, :). Thanks.

for me its the one on the right, You need a down candle that is half or more the same size as the white one that is full body. then you would have a shooting star. Remember its not just the candle you must watch, but also where the candle (s) are setting up. For a shooting star setup it must be at the top of a higher high

You can easily backtest this on the trading instrument you're trading. Much better answer than asking for anonymous replies from people trading different trading instruments.

Also, after you've mastered Japanese Candlestick Analysis...you will know that BOTH require confirmation not because they had those different types of Doji...its the price action not shown before the two interval pattern that will have the "most important" impact on that two pattern candlestick setup.

You need that context of the price action that occurred prior to those two intervals...without that context...Japanese Candlestick analysis just doesn't work and not worth testing although most will test it as such without that context.

Yourself stated
here in a another thread about TA that understanding price action and market sentiment is key. That's the missing context info I'm talking about from your two interval pattern. Thus, seems a little odd you're now asking this question about this two interval pattern that to me could have been called any other name that deals with other things not related to Japanese Candlestick Analysis. Seriously, you can post the exact same intervals via bar charts (no Japanese Candlestick Analysis) and the same context information will be needed.

Most traders backtesting or trying to use it without that context...they usually fail at trading it as such and backtesting results are poor. Hopefully this is just a curious question by you considering your prior messages about trading puts emphasis in knowing and understanding the context of the price action prior to the application of any TA.

TA by itself, its an incomplete puzzle and without that context...the results tend to be poor.

Its cold outside and I'm bored - various thoughts follow

So which one of these do you believe needs more bearish confirmation (left or right?)

To do what with...., buy into / short

===============================

Like WRB said - where the hell is the context - without it this is a mental masturbation exercise

Personally..., I would also want to see the accompanying volume

Blend the two.., on each side - they're essentially the same (thinkaboutit)

Difference is:

Late longs - trapped on the right side

Early shorts - trapped on the left

So what have the BSDs been doing

You asked a nonsensical question OP
