Questions re: going live with a system?

Brooks,

Quote from BrooksRimes:

- how hard is it waiting several hours for an entry signal?

If it’s just one market (YM), probably, if you don’t have the patience. That’s why I apply my system on multiple markets, ER2, EC, YM, TY.

- how do you keep from getting bored and what do you do between signals?

Research, enhance my system’s code (there’s always work to be done in that area), read or listen to music.

- how hard is it to watch a trade for an hour plus to see if it wins or loses?

Can be hard at times. Occasionally. I still have to remind myself that no matter what, “don’t interfere with the system!” I’ve done my part, now let it do its.

Not sure what you mean ...

Three years of data?? might not be enough... You can translate 10 YM point for about 1 ES point and just multiply the price reference with a ratio within your system and see if it works for ES. They should be highly correlated.

Automated trading has its own challenges... I am still learning myself.

55 points per trade. 1-2 trades per day. That's an awful lot of money, especially for a mechanical day-trade system. Sorry to be cynical but it doesn't sound like it will work in the real world to me.

But good luck anyway.

You are right, I made a mistake. Its $55/trade or 11 tics on the YM.
