Question: how to deal with trolls? Can't anybody do something about them?

Nobody wants to silence anybody. They only want the privilege -- some would say right -- to discuss what they please without being pestered unceasingly by those who disagree. The P&R Forum is downstairs, though it's becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish between the two.

As for fanatics, you have a mirror handy?

Its not personal disagreement. No personal attacks. Just conversation. Just because your argument has been destroyed by facts you call it trolling. Sad but true

Its fact vs superstion, its science vs myth. And your side has lost.

The content provider. Not the content (or context or quality of discussion) destroyers. Oddtrader said it best. Anyone who's on the Thread Starter (content provider)'s ignore list should be unable to post to that discussion.

Really. People should be required to be well mannered and stay within grace of the thread starter. If thread starters could determine who has permission to add content to their threads it would solve the ignore issue, proactively, forever, while simultaneously creating a quality environment for the exchange of high quality on-topic, well-sorted and easily searchable content in nice neat database format where requests for info receive timely personal responses.

Great solution and such is used elsewhere.

I know for fact I haven't started a thread at ET in many many years as others due to the fact I know I can't police my own thread. In addition, I know that any one on my ignore list...their messages is still viewable when "someone else" quotes that person.

I thought the latter was fixed unless I have a glitch.

If its not a glitch, the current ignore feature is very limited. Its like going to a party and you tell yourself to ignore someone. Yet, the person you're ignoring is standing next to you like something out of a Stephan King creepshow...a troll.

Until that's fixed, I'll never start a thread at this forum...place around here getting a little scary.

That is your opinion. So far. If you can demonstrate that, for example, the SLA entries are flawed, do so. Otherwise, you're just being a troll with a stealth vendor agenda.

Actually it's more like going to a party where there are a lot of small children who are unsupervised and particularly obnoxious, pulling on your pants leg and spilling things on your shoes.

Or a plane full of same. Long haul. And filled to capacity.

Being able to block specific users from your threads will be implemented this weekend.
You just made MS's year. The Surf Report will now become an effective marketing tool for him.

Any negative comments against "Price Drivers" or questions related to trade/risk mgmt.... <Click> another one added to the block list.

It would be interesting to see a list of "those" blocked on each self moderated thread. Would be quite revealing on how "biased" a thread becomes.

Thanks Baron. However, good news and bad news!

Good news is ET will have a new and useful feature!

Bad news is my own thread will have only myself alone! lol

According to him, it's already an effective marketing tool. Why he isn't expected to pay a sponsor's fee is a mystery.

As for negative comments about PD, who cares? Makes no difference to me how he trades or whether or not he makes money trading or if he trades at all. I just want to be allowed to carry on discussions with like-minded traders without having to filter out so much noise.

If this new feature works, I'll be more than happy to try again. There are after all only a handful of people who qualify for the Ignore list (everybody else is too busy actually trading).
