The only ones who seem to have a problem with this feature are those whose past behavior would have likely resulted in being blocked from certain threads where their presence was disruptive/counter-productive tot he discussion. This, in my opinion, shows just how great a troll-deterrent/troll-control device this will likely be.
fortydraws... may I state something that just popped into my head while I was out driving around today?
It seems to me that one of your goals here is to keep defending DbPhoenix, to keep saying how much of a positive influence his PDF had on your trading, and how the trolls are a nuisance. Well this just keeps going back and forth, and it never gets anywhere. You guys seem to think that keeping the so called trolls away from the journals of certain members will somehow be beneficial, which it might, but at the same time, there are lots of points made about how this will also be negative censorship.
But then it hit me... wouldn't the best way to show how positive Db's teachings have been would be to demonstrate it? You have always complained before that trolls messed up any attempt. It seems to me now that you will have the perfect opportunity. You can block everyone from your thread with the exception of a handful people, and you can choose to post what you like, but hopefully what you would do is post daily charts with trades for at least a week.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to call you out on anything here and honestly, I have for the most part enjoyed most of what you say about trading. But there are lots who disagree with the effectiveness of what Db teaches, and with you fully supporting him yet offering not much more transparency than also saying "go read his PDF", this really isn't the strongest argument that you could make for defending him. In the past, you stopped your journal because of trolls (even though your journal was just about observation and not in fact trading), but now you have the perfect venue that you have full control over.
For the record, I don't believe you even trade SLA, so its not like you would be showing SLA trades and hence showing how SLA made you a profitable trader. But you have already showed great places where you look for trades, which I found very helpful, and it would just be nice to actually follow along an entire week, or how ever long you keep it going for, going through the highs and lows, the huge wins, the scratches, and the small little losses along the way.
Surely you must agree that demonstrating how you trade for an entire week would go much further than simply arguing with everyone else here about whether it can or can't be done? If your intention is to defend Db, then any demonstration of what he teaches would I think go a long way to providing excellent proof towards your views. All the trolls have is saying it can't be done, and we have countless evidence of this as most aren't ever consistently profitable, but rather than just continually using logical arguments and referencing a PDF and saying each person has to do their own work etc, I do believe that a demonstration would be most helpful.
You wouldn't have to answer to any critics as you can just block them, and you can choose to show whatever you want. (I'm not even saying I need to see how much money is made, I would just like charts with clear entries and exits marked). I'm not even saying the calls have to be done in real time. All I'm saying is that you now, as a result of this new feature, have the power to actually defend what you and do Db. Theoretical stuff only goes so far. I think most of us would agree that a demonstration, a chart, is worth more than any eloquent words or thought arguments thrown back and forth.
