Quote from Barth Vader:
For me, my faith in the G-D who reveals Himself in the scriptures, and in the person of Jesus Christ, is a fact.
Quote from Landis82:
Wow, this is getting pretty rich.
Of all people on ET giving a lesson in LOGIC and rational thinking.
Too funny!

so it goes. bible thumpers find a tiny gap in out scientific knowledge and put a god in it. It is always amusing to hear theists proclaim that they dont believe in natural causes because it sounds too complicated yet they will readily believe that some grey haired old deity in the sky just spoke and everything we see today popped up from nothing.Quote from Wallet:
Hummmm?
I look up there and I see a vast complex universe, where did it all come from?
You try to confine God to the knowledge and senses of an lesser being and when you cannot you claim that's the proof for nonexistence?
I'd say that we can not grasp or understand the magnitude of God. The very though of trying to measure or explain scientifically is futile at best, but keep trying. And all the time, as your efforts are in vain, you will keep spouting --- there's no proof. When all you have to do is look up there.

Quote from NeoRio1:
The definition of a fact-
ânoun 1. something that actually exists; reality; truth: Your fears have no basis in fact.
2. something known to exist or to have happened: Space travel is now a fact.
3. a truth known by actual experience or observation; something known to be true: Scientists gather facts about plant growth.
4. something said to be true or supposed to have happened: The facts given by the witness are highly questionable.
5. Law. Often, facts. an actual or alleged event or circumstance, as distinguished from its legal effect or consequence. Compare
You still calling it a fact is about as factual as me reading the lord of the rings and calling it a fact.
Gandolf and Frodo revealed themselves to me so much that I can't help but believe that they actually existed...
See your reasoning yet?
bible thumpers always use circular thinking. the bible proves what the bible says is true.Quote from Barth Vader:
I was going to add a "prophecy" in my reply about your next response including a definition of the word "fact", but I was sure you would state someone edited it after the fact !
Since your question asked if MY belief in G-D was a fact, I would offer that my reasoning is firm.
If I misunderstood the intent of your query, and the question was " Is G-D a fact?", then this would be my reply:
You have freely chosen, as an act operating within your free will, within the questions and enquiries and searching interior to your intellect , you have made a free choice that Gandolf and Frodo existed in our human history. You, I, and anyone else could have come to the same conclusion. Joe Blow could state that Frodo existed, but Gandolf is myth. And so on and so on. This is the case because the concepts of fact and fiction, regarding events, stories, theory, etc., which our minds judge, in an individualistic manor, belong to us, each of us. They are our own personal "idols" built in our interior "factory".
The G-D, whom I believe reveals Himself in scripture, demands the opposite. The knowledge or knowability of the G-D of scripture takes place, not in a free choice, but with a very definite restraint. We must be bound , in our knowledge and seeking of G-D, to His Word in which He gives Himself to us to be known.
For those who enter into the "freedom" of this restraint, the knowability and knowledge of G-D is indeed a fact. If He is known otherwise, other than through this restraint, then this god should be placed upon the shelf with the other entities we have fashioned in our own image.

very true. It seems that atheists are more tolerant than theists, although it seems like that would be expected.
