Question for experienced futures traders

Hi:

My question is in regards to the odds when a market gaps at the open, outside of one's profit or loss targets.

I would imagine that chances of this happening would be 50/50.
Once against and once in your favor.

Is this correct ? Or the odds higher on one side ?

Thanks !

If you are talking about index futures, you have near 24 hour markets to avoid that scenario. Your biggest risk would be accidentally putting on a position ahead of a pre-market report that you had not been aware of. Otherwise, the volatility is seriously muted these days.

Thank you for your reply. I should have made my inquiry much more detailed.

I will start a new thread later today since the question I have relates to futures as a whole, not only index futures.

Thanks anyway !
