I'd like to know this, too.
I only ever use the 'new posts' button on forums.
Not a fan of having to browse through each sub-forum category.
So we have to go through the search function?
I hate to appear to be against anything new or any change, even if I am, but I think you are underestimating how useful it was to be able to scan forums for new posts without a lot of clicking. Without any clicking, to be exact.
I don't like the new font either, with everything jammed together with no spaces for new sentences, but I guess that makes me old fashioned.

I'm with you... don't like this format.... bad changes. The other was just fine. I suspect a LARGE fall-off in traffic if this format is maintained.
Thank you for the link. It's easy enough to bookmark. What is much more important is the WYSWIG functionality and not having to futz with HTML codes every time one wants to italicize something or post an image. And thank you for the permalinks.
While I don't know why you wanted to make the site look like everybody else's, you have your reasons. Perhaps it's a matter of using a format that everybody on other sites is used to. Again, what is more important is the functionality.

The format on the forum index page on the last version existed because I hacked the software to be that way. It enabled quick and easy scanning of new posts and threads, no doubt. The only problem with hacking in custom features like that is that I couldn't just upgrade the software to the subsequent versions -- versions that had features like the wysiwig editors and single post links, because none of my modifications would translate over. I held out for as long as I could, but it was beyond time to get things moving forward. What you see now is just an interim step to yet another upgrade this weekend, which will provide features like real-time alerts, activity feeds, drag and drop file attachments, etc.
I understand and, believe me, I'm not complaining. I suggest, though, that you strive for simplicity wherever possible, within the confines of what the software demands. The BM site is a nightmare, as is T2W, though not quite so bad. TL is far more complicated than it needs to be, and given their metrics, it's not working in their favor.
So good luck with it, and I suggest everyone just be patient.
