DALTON — As she wound down her campaign speech to hundreds of supporters piled into a community center’s gym, Stacey Abrams asked the North Georgia crowd to look back to 2020 to remember the energy and enthusiasm that helped Democrats score upset wins.

“Georgia is the reason we’ve got Joe Biden,” she said to a burst of applause. “The reason that we’ve got billions of dollars in our coffers, money that’s being spent to help keep us afloat.”

While other Democratic candidates in Georgia are keeping their distance from Biden and his low approval ratings, Abrams is following a different course. She’s embracing both her alliance with the president and the legislative agenda he has championed.


With Gov. Brian Kemp slightly ahead in polls, Abrams wants to rekindle the coalition of liberal Democrats and independent swing voters that powered the president’s victory in 2020 as her opponent blames high inflation and the slowing U.S. economy on the “Biden-Abrams agenda.”

Abrams is responsible for much of the get out the vote scams that got Biden elected.

But if you accept the fact that he had to get nominated first, then Jim Clyburn is responsible for Biden being nominated.

From there, lots of factors. Aunt Stacey included.

A VP with Biden needs to be more than the typical vanilla white man given the age of Biden. I dont think you need Kloby just to win Minn. She is as grating as Elizabeth Warren at times.

It's a package deal.

Both president and vp slots will be open until anyone thinks Biden is running. If so, you gonna waste a lot of time just figuring out who the vp will when the vp role must be assessed in light of who is the number one slot.

I think a year ago, it was reasonable to assume that both the mayors of Atlanta and DC were vp considerations, maybe even top slot for the Atlanta gal. But things have waivered a bit since then. Atlanta mayor has left her position. DC babe is less than stellar.

As I said before I think the dems have problems stacking "a woman of color" into the number two slot this time around. It works once, then it begins to look like they are being relegated to the number two slot. I know I said that earlier, but it still applies.

Now, the astute ones might say "whoaaa, but what about if the dems go with an all-female ticket." Well, okay. That is different.

Just as it would be different if DeSantis picks a female hispanic woman.

You have to up the game a bit. People's interest in seeing diversity in the president and vp has grown if anything, but their tolerance for stupid has plummeted. Therein lies the challenge.

There is a reason why Biden made Susan Rice his chief domestic advisor even though all of her experience is in foreign affairs. It was Obama's way of preparing her for 2024 by getting some domestic experience on her resume and to place her closer to Biden's ears to compensate for his lack of skill. But she just still has not worked out and it is not the Benghazi baggage. She is smart as hell and a tough beltway fighter. The bullet she took on Benghazi was a bullet for Hillary. (remember how Hillary conventiently slipped in the shower). Rice's problem now is that the progressives hate her guts. She is opposed to open borders, opposed to student loan write-off, opposed to defund the police, etc. etc. Plus she has never been elected to anything. I am only beating this Susan Rice thing to say that Obama and his camp have always had plans on how to handle Joe and his succession and those have not worked either.

2024 is pretty much wide open. The normal presumed succession plan of VP to presumed nominee is headed nowhere.

Susan Rice is, however, a leading candidate to replace Ron Klain when he goes sometime soon. That will piss the progs off too.
